Invaders Shutout Bruins 21-0

Posted by Larry Mills on Apr 22 2005 at 05:00PM PDT
QB Mike Hawkins began the game with a 30 yard gallop on a Sweep Right play. On 2nd and 3, Hawk hit TE Danny Gay on a 10 yard curl route and Gay weaved and slashed for a 43 yard score. The 1-point conversion pass attempt to WR Taurus McGhee was ruled incomplete, even though McGhee was pushed out of bounds in mid-air after making a sensational leaping catch. On the Bruin's first possession they wilted under the Invaders' outstanding rush pressure and snapped the ball into the end zone for safety to put the Invaders up 8-0. On the Invaders' next possession Hawk hit McGhee on a post route for a 57 yard touchdown to put the Invaders up 14-0. The conversion failed. The Invaders forced the Bruins to punt. On the Invaders' next drive, Hawk hit WR Matthew Anderson on a 40 yard post route to move the ball down to the Bruins 7 yard line. On the next play, Hawk BB Aaron Kinchen with a shuttle pass for a touchdown. The 1-point conversion pass was completed to Center George Wyatt to put the Invaders up 21-0. S Wayne Benson came up with another interception to seal the victory for the Invaders. Blocking backs Aaron Kinchen, Arthur Anderson and Paul Berry set the tone for the offense. Again, the Invaders' defense was led by outstanding rushers William Foster, Lawrence Upson, Greg Kelly and Ed Green.
