Brothers AC Shutout Invaders 16-0

Posted by Larry Mills on Jul 22 2005 at 05:00PM PDT
The Brothers AC's playmakers of Antoine Monroe and Dwayne (Wayne) Marcus proved to be the difference, as the Brothers AC defeated the Invaders 16-0. The Invaders appeared to be driving towards a score on their first possession; however, the Brothers’ defense came up with the first big play of the game. On 4th and 19 from their 41 yard line, the Invaders successfully executed a double-pass play to Center George Wyatt, but one of the Brothers’ defenders came up with an outstanding hustle play and made a clutch flag pull “2 inches” from the first down line, forcing the Invaders to turn the ball over on downs. On the Brothers’ second possession, QB Gibon Fobbs completed an out route to the right to Center DWayne Marcus and Marcus outran the Invaders’ defenders for a 50 yard touchdown. The two-point conversion kick by Ernesto Marin was successful. In the second half, the Brothers dwarfed another Invaders’ drive, when they intercepted a pass attempt from QB Michael Hawkins to WR Francois Hicks. The Brothers capitalized on the turnover, when WR Monroe caught a 10 yard pass from Fobbs on a dig route and evaded 4 Invaders defenders for another 50 yard score. Defensive back Jade Foster caught up to Monroe at the 10 yard, line, but Monroe was able elude Foster to avoid a flag pull. The two-point conversion attempt by Marin was successful.
