Selecting the Correct Bat is Important!!!
www.slugger.com this will take you to the Louisville Slugger website. Click on "Coach's Tips" then hit "How to Choose Your Bat"
This will help you select the correct bat size and weight. The "drop weight" is very important too. If your daughter has a fast, strong, aggressive swing then go with a minus 10. If they have a slow, weak or timid swing then try minus 12, 12.5, 13. If in between then select a minus 10.5, 11, 11.5.
It is very important to use the correct bat. When selecting bats make sure they are for "Fastpitch Softball". Slow pitch softball bats are too heavy for fastpitch.
Softball Fever is Here
It is time to think softball. Dig out your bat, glove and ball. Any practice you do in the off season will give you a head start when the season begins. Take advantage of any good weather and get out and play.
Take 25 swings in the basement every other day. Throw a rubber ball against the wall and catch it with your glove. Practice grounders by bending your knees and use 2 hands to catch the ball. Get out and run with a friend. Have a catch with a friend. Teams that throw and catch well usually win.
Remember to Play Hard but Practice Harder!!!
Sign ups start January 18th on Wagdogs...Check the church bulletin for more details
Practices start Tuesday March 2nd from 4:00-5:30pm @ Charity. The season starts the end of March so be ready.
We will be using our new field this year but will need plenty of help fixing it up.
Varsity will be coached by Walt & Irene McCray and Joe Glatts.
JV will be coached by Tom Bradley, Steve Lynch and Walt Kempczynski.
