Megan Shea getting it done at NDSU

FARGO, N.D.--Lisa Bue led a group of four players in double figures with a game-high 14 points to lead North Dakota State University to an 81-31 win over Valley City State University on Thursday, Dec. 14, before 772 spectators at the Bison Sports Arena.

North Dakota State (4-4) is scheduled to host San Jose State University (0-10) at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18. The Bison are at the .500 mark for the first time since Dec. 29, 2005. Valley City State (9-2) is scheduled to travel to Sioux Falls University (7-6) on Dec. 16.

NDSU received 53 points off the bench during the evening led by 5-foot-7 Emily Moran, who tallied a career-high 12 points. Six-foot freshman Megan Shea had 10 points in nine minutes of work. Shea hit 2 of 4 from the field -- both three-pointers -- and sank all four free throw attempts.

Brenda Slyt rounded out the Bison double-figure scoring list with 10 points, while Danni Heintzelman snared a team-high nine rebounds.

NDSU led 42-17 at halftime, but Valley City State opened the second half with an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to 19 points with 15:00 left. The Vikings' spurt was sparked by Loni Hall and Mallory Undlin. Hall scored a team-high 12 points, while Undlin just missed a "double-double" with nine points and game-high 11 rebounds.

Katie Dahlen hit a three-point to end the Valley City State threat and spark a Bison 9-2 run.

North Dakota State hit 44.3 percent from the field compared to 25 percent for Valley City State. The Bison held a 45-36 advantage in rebounding. NDSU scored 31 points off of 27 Vikings' turnovers.

Overall, 12 of 14 NDSU players available scored and 11 of the group snared at least one rebound.

Falcons rally to beat Stillwater

After trailing at half by 6, 29-23, the Falcons rattled off 43 second half points to defeat the Ponies of Stillwater 66-57. Stephanie Loobeck led the way with 16 points and Danielle Rahja pitched in 11. Amanda Viehauser also added in 11 2nd half points. The victory sealed a 3 game sweep on the day as the JV and Sophomores also recorded victories against the Ponies. Next up for the Falcons will be Bloomington Jefferson. This will be the first game in a two day tournament in Woodbury.
The Varsity, JV and Sophomore squads will be playing in the 2006 Woodbury Winter Wonderland Tournament.  Information is below but also check the schedule section and the handouts for brackets.

The Varsity/ JV and Sophomores will travel to Stillwater High School on Tuesday 12/12 to take on the Ponies. Please see schedule for game times. The Freshman will play at Hopkins Lindberg Center on Thursday at 4:30pm. Thank you for all your support this season and we look forward to seeing you at the games.

Parent Night

GIRLS BASKETBALL PARENT NIGHT THIS FRIDAY DECEMBER 8 REMINDER TO BE AT THE AHS GYM BY 6:30 WITH 3 MINUTES REMAINING IN THE JV GAME ALL PARENTS, INCLUDING SOPHOMORE AND FRESHMAN PLAYERS WILL MEET BEHIND THE ARMSTRONG BENCH. PLEASE LINE UP ALPHABETICALLY BY TEAM (PLAYERS SEPERATE FROM PARENTS). THE PARENTS WILL BE AT ONE END OF THE GYM WITH THE GIRLS AT THE OTHER END. THE PARENTS WILL MEET THEIR DAUGHTERS AT HALF COURT AND WALK TOWARD THE BLEACHERS TOGETHER STANDING ON THE SIDELINE IN FRONT OF THE BLEACHERS. ALL ARE WELCOME TO STAY AFTER THE VARSITY GAME FOR COOKIES AND PUNCH. GO FALCONS
