AHS MB Update 4 - 8-20-18

We had a fantastic first week and we are gearing up for two performances this week. Just a few reminders and updates to get you through the week:

Rehearsals - 8/20-8/23 - 6:00-8:15pm 

Tuesday, 8/21 - Community Picnic
Meet on the stadium turf at the regular time of 6:00pm wearing your "State Fair Uniform" (red 2018 AHS MB t-shirt, khaki/tan colored shorts, and light colored athletic shoes). We will warm-up and rehearse a bit before marching over around 6:40-6:45pm to perform. After the performance we will continue with our rehearsal until the regular time of 8:15pm. Students are welcome to come early and eat, just don't be late for rehearsal.

State Fair, 8/24 - State Fair Parade
All of the information needed for the State Fair can be found on the website or in the Marching Band Handbook. Students should meet in the Band Room by 11:45am wearing their "State Fair Uniform." If you are planning to pick up your student from the fair and they will not be riding home with the rest of the band, you need to notify Mr. Burkholder by NOON on Wednesday, 8/22 at Todd_Burkholder@rdale.org

Halftime Groups
Any students/families wanting to request a halftime group need to notify Mr. Bukrholder by NOON on Wednesday, 8/22 at Todd_Burkholder@rdale.org

Paperwork/Payments/Registration
Many of you are all set with all of this and we thank you for that. If you still need to submit payments and paperwork please get it all taken care of before NOON on Wednesday, 8/22.

A number of you have asked about the registration fees between the Armstrong and Cooper marching bands this year. The district has decided that the two marching bands will be run differently this year. Armstrong will make marching band an elective in Symphonic Band therefore making it an extra curricular activity which requires an activity fee of $110 to the district.

The Cooper Symphonic Band is required to march therefore due to Minnesota state statute requires that a fee can not be charged for an educational requirement so the Cooper Marching band will not pay the activity fee this year. If you have questions regarding this decision please contact our activities director Patti Weldon patti_weldon@rdale.org
