Goddard Gets Shutout as Unbeaten DEA Rolls Over Westford 3-0

Posted by Dale Dubois on Oct 03 2005 at 05:00PM PDT

Once again the DEA legion rolled into Sportsman stadium in great numbers.  This time it was to take on the Westford Grey Goats.  The sole mission of this game was to receive no PK's.  After a long hard fought game, the team was successful.  James Goddard held strong in goal with some great saves, and also dazzling the crowd with a little Razzle Dazzle dance, after making a particularly outstanding save.  Goddard would finally get a well deserved shutout as DEA would go on to win 3-0 over Westford and raise the unbeaten streak to 5 games.

The first goal of the game came off of a hard struck direct kick from Jim McCall, which bounced off the goalies chest, then was followed up by Ray Luscinski beating everyone to the ball to place it in the back of the net.  Ray knocked down several trees in the last game from him field goal kicking attempts, and was determined to square things this game.  The second goal came from the red heat, Johnie Guild, as he slammed a screamer past the Westford keeper.  Guild was assisted by another John, John Morin who had a fine game up top.  The final goal of the day bounced around in the penalty area off several people trying to connect, but finally was finished off by Dan Roberge.  Dan was under great pressure from DEA management watching the game from the sidelines since Dan refereed an earlier 0-30 DEA game with a highly disputed call.  This goal may have brought him back into good terms with the DEA Staff.

Highlights:

Yes, only 1 off-sides this game.  Good job Stan.  Although we are still trying to figure out how he kicked that field goal from only ten feet in front of the net.  I don't think he was a West High Graduate.

Garbage goal of the game came from Mitch Green as he hit a ball clear into the garbage can on the far side of the field.  We would have liked to give him 3 points for that perfect placement.  All net on that one.

A particular crowd pleasing moment was the cry heard from the field "Burger's".  I know I was hungry after that.

DEA is unbeaten this season with a 4-0-1 record and an amazing +15 goal differential.  The team remains home this Sunday for a rare 11:45 AM start time as they take on Weston crew.  DEA had their way with Weston in their first meeting walking away with a 7-1 victory.  DEA is sure to show with numbers for this match....
