DEA Bedford Crushes Westford 6-0

Posted by Dale Dubois on Nov 01 2004 at 04:00PM PST
DEA Bedford Masters crushed the Grey Goats of Westford in the early game on Halloween morning. DEA did everything right in this match, possessing the ball for at least 75% of the game. DEA's one sub would be plenty on this day as Bedford's control would allow everyone to conserve energy. Jim McCall would get DEA going early in the first half as he would find the back of the net off a nice feed from Rick Plichta. Stan Wisniewski would be next on the scoring frenzy as he would score his first of two on the day. Doug Wolfe would send a through ball to Stan and he would beat the keeper to put DEA up 2-0. David Poole making his DEA debut, would make a nice overlapping run out of his left back position. David would get the ball and head into the area. Poole would get chopped by a Westford defender and be awarded a PK. David would finish the PK, a just reward for a great run. DEA would take the commanding 3-0 lead into halftime. DEA's keeper, Tom Sadeghi, would have to make a diving save to keep Westford off the board in the first half. Westford would switch their keeper for the second half but would not prove to be much better for them as Bedford would start controlling the play right from the whistle. Joe Mitchell would give Bedford their fouth tally as he would hit a beautiful left footed shot passed the new keeper. Joes goal was assisted by Rick Plicta, his second assist of the game. Westford would try to get something going and lessen the thrashing. They would get a couple of chances midway through the second half. One shot was tipped wide by a Diving Tom Sadeghi, who played very strong in the DEA net. Another Westford shot would curve wide by inches off the left post. DEA would counter as Stan Wisniewski would get his second goal on the day, as he would head a crossing serve from Jim McCall on the six. Bedford was rolling 5-0. George Wegricht would finish the scoring for DEA as he would volley a great restart from Joe Mitchell from about 20 yards out. DEA's Defense was very good in the shut out with Mitch Green and Mark Major holding up the middle and David Poole and Pat Walsh on the flanks. A fine game from DEA all around. DEA looks to get a playoff spot as they finish off the regular season in Lexinton, MA as they take on the Lexington Eagles. DEA beat the Eagles in their first meeting earlier in the season. DEA needs this win to have a shot at the post season so lets get numbers to the game. ....GO DEA....
