Bedford Drops One to Billerica: 2-1

Posted by Dale Dubois on Sep 18 2007 at 05:00PM PDT

Bedford came up short in their first away game of the season on Sunday as they fell to the Billerica Rovers 2-1.  Playing on the small field played a big part in the defeat as DEA could not establish control of the game.  Credit goes to Billerica, for what they lack in skill, they made up for in effort.

DEA got their only goal midway throught the first half as Ed Ibanez found Scott Sharby with a nice pass outside.  Scott beat his defender and ripped a screamer by the Rover's keeper.  This is where DEA needs to put things away and they have failed in their two losses this season.  Bedford had the chance to knock in two more goals and put the game out of reach for Billerica but the could not finish up front.  Billerica tied the game up with a minute left in the first half on a quick counter attack.

DEA had chances in the second half also but did not finish.  Billerica would score a goal off a rebound.  Steve Sarro, who did a great job to save the first shot for Bedford, would have no chance at the rebound as an uncovered Rover would tap it in.

Bedford has to do a much better job capitalizing on the opponents mistakes and scoring goals when they are given the opportunity.  Luckily the division is still very much up for grabs for any team.

Look for some changes in the lineup for the next game against the Irish Village at home this Sunday at 10:30 AM.

Scott Sharby picked up his second yellow card and Ed Ibanez picked up his first.  That is three 30 packs.... for next game.

Show up to play or stay home!!!
