DEA Starts the Spring Season With a 3-1 Win over Pepperell

Posted by Dale Dubois on Apr 30 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
DEA Masters started the 2007 season out on the right foot with a 3-1 win over Pepperell. DEA is new to division 4 and wanted to let everyone know that did not intend to stay. Legacy field was still closed due to the late snow fall so DEA management secured the classy Hampshire Dome in Milford for the match. The turf field would mean a much quicker game for both sides and DEA seem to fair the better of the two. Both sides started out cautious, getting used to the fast surface. DEA clearly had the majority of the possession, but could not light the lamp and the first half remained scoreless. The second half would see a DEA surge early. Captain Jim McCall would start the scoring for DEA about 10 minutes in. McCall would take a feed from John Vallickus, from center mid, and beat the Pepperell keeper, who had been keeping them in the game until then. Shortly later, Pepperell would commit a foul outside their area to the right of their goal. Scott Sharby would take the restart and hit a beautiful strike into the far side netting to put DEA up 2-0. DEA really put on the pressure now and Jeff Guild would sprint down the right side of the field and hit a beautiful cross to the foot of Bill Jean. Billy would net his first of the year to put DEA on top 3 nil. Pepperell would spoil the shutout with a nice shot that would just get over new DEA keeper, Randy Bryan's reach. The game would end with DEA up 3-1. DEA would head to the coast to take on their rivials, the Hurricane at Gordon College next. Great win DEA.
