ROSELEA CHURNED AT THE CREAMERY!

BATHGATE THISTLE V MONTROSE ROSELEA

MCBOOKIE.COM EAST PREMIER LEAGUE

SAT OCT 5TH 2013

Roselea made the long trip to Creamery Park, Bathgate in their latest quest for 3 points in the Premier League. Bathgate had started the season as well as was expected and sat in 2nd place behind leaders Penicuik. Roselea travelled with a strong squad with long term injury victims Stewart Fletcher and Jordan Reoch sidelined and Stuart Richardson on holiday. Calum Rae was available after his two game suspension.

Creamery Park was in excellent condition and with it being subject to a few winter cancellations great to get out of the way at this stage of the season.

Roselea: Mcleod, Riach, Whyte, R Taylor, Duncan Reid, Anderson, Rae, Cruickshank, Collier, Dale Reid & Watson. Subs: Gammie, A Thomson, J Rausch, P Milne & R Brand.

Roselea almost had an unexpected chance in the first minute when a long ball found Dale Reid at the edge of the 18 yard and it was only his touch that let him down at the last hurdle.

In 7 minutes Bathgate had a half chance when Larinsky made a great run and a pass found him on the corner of the box but Ross Mcleod had spotted the danger and made a great block to send it behind for a corner.

Bathgate opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a great finish from their number 9 LARINSKY. Roselea defended a corner well but when the ball was dinked back in the striker took the ball down with his knee and chipped the advancing Mcleod.

Roselea retaliated and a great run from Ryan Taylor saw him skip past four opposition players but his right footed shot didn’t match the quality of his run and the keeper saved well.

In 13 minutes Anderson gave a away a foul right on the edge of the Roselea 18 yard box however the free kick clipped the top of the bar to go over much to the away sides relief.

Roselea got level on 16 minutes with a very opportunist goal from Calum WATSON. He picked the ball up wide right and despite having support in the box who were marked he quite rightly elected to shoot and the ball squeezed between the post and the keeper to put the Lea level.

With Roselea attacking through Cruickshank suddenly the ball swung the other end and Swan played Larinsky who somehow managed to find the hands of Mcleod when the goal was gaping.

Bathgate were causing Roselea problems on the break with Swan’s movement being the curse of the defence. On the half hour mark he had a shot which was deflected behind for a corner then a customary save from Ross Mcleod blocked another shot as he somehow escaped the Roselea offside trap with a great run.

It was pretty even stuff and Roselea were giving as good as they got as a great Cruickshank cross was just missed by Dale Reid who could not get enough on it in 41 minutes.

With half time approaching there were another two chances with Mcleod again saving from Swan and then Calum Watson had a rasping drive from the angle which was not far off the angle.

Half Time Bathgate Thistle 1 Montrose Roselea 1

Roselea were forced into a change at half time when Ryan Taylor had to leave the field with an injury and was replaced by Connor Gammie.

In 48 minutes Bathgate attacked and their number 5 drove into the box with a strong run ending with a one – two which Mcleod blocked with a low save.

Roselea took the lead in 54 minutes and sent the small travelling support into raptures. Cruickshank who had slotted in at left back sent a long ball which Gammie flicked on and with the Bathgate defence caught flat Calum WATSON latched onto the ball and sent a great shot past the keeper from 25 yards.

In 60 minutes only some good defending from Collier & Cruickshank against danger man Swan prevented a goal.

In 61 minutes Anderson takes the ball past a couple of Bathgate players before number 10 decides it is good practice to take him down on the edge of the box however unlike all the other Roselea free kicks of the day Duncan Reid sends his effort wide.

Play is swinging from end to end and Bathgate have a chance with Swan drilling into the Roselea box with only a deflection on his cross taking it away from danger then at the other end when a free kick is headed out to Duncan Reid he wastes a great shooting opportunity and skies over the bar from 20 yards.

Bathgate danger man Swan is wriggling up the left hand side and after a clear slip a free kick is given however when the ball is delivered Mcleod is equal to the challenge and punches clear.

With 10 minutes remaining Duncan Reid has another chance from a free kick but again curls his effort wide of the target.

Roselea lost their lead in 85 minutes under slightly controversial circumstances. Roselea contested an offside given against Gammie and with the ball still moving the keeper launched a long ball which saw LARINSKY wriggle free and slot home from close range.

McLeod made a great safe in 88 minutes when a corner broke at the far post and he had to make a close range safe to keep Roselea in with a chance of a point.

In stoppage time the cruellest blow that could hit Roselea happened when the best player on the pitch SWAN found space in the box and managed to sneak the ball home for the home side to steal all three points.

Full Time: Bathgate Thistle 3 Montrose Roselea 2

Despite leading in seven of the previous nine games and going on to lose this was undoubtedly the cruellest of them all having matched one of the promotion favourites on their own patch. Even at 2-2 one would have been thinking that just taking one point from the match would have been a travesty. It was the best player on the park by a country mile however that sneaked the winner. It was a gutted Roselea side who trooped into the Bathgate clubrooms to be sympathetically greeted by the opposition.

The defeat leaves Roselea rooted at the bottom of the League however they left Bathgate with plenty of compliments that should leave them full of optimism for the rest of the season. With home games crucial they now have two at Broomfield Park that could map the rest of the season. First up Glenrothes visit Broomfield Park on Oct 12th then Arniston Rangers visit on Sat 19th both with a 2.30pm KO.

The draw for the 2nd Round of the Scottish Junior Cup takes place on Weds 9th October with ties to be played on Sat 26th. One team will get a welcome bye into the 3rd Round after Fife side Steelend have had to take time out of the game.

ROSELEA STUNG AT THE DEATH AGAIN

Posted by Roy Gill at Sep 27, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

MONTROSE ROSELEA v OAKLEY UTD
McBOOKIE.COM EAST REGION PREMIER LEAGUE
SAT SEPT 28th

Roselea entertain Oakley Utd in their next Premier League match desperately needing three points to get their season going. They were boosted by the return of Stuart Richardson from injury and Paul Whyte who returned after a spell in Amateur football with Luthermuir. Jo Reoch & Stewart Fletcher miss out again due to injury and Calum Rae finished the second of his two game suspension.

Oakley utd had made a good start to the season and boasted several players with Senior experience with some playing in the Premier League. Lee Dair played with Raith Rovers, Scott Walker St Mirren and Kevin Fotheringham has been at several teams including Ross County, St Johnstone, Arbroath and Forfar.

Roselea: Mcleod, Riach, Whyte, Richardson, R Taylor, Duncan Reid, Collier,Anderson, Cruickshank, Dale Reid & Watson. Subs: Thomson, Rausch, Gammie & Brand.

Roselea got off to the perfect start when they were awarded a penalty in just three minutes. Whyte won his header from a corner kick but the referee must have spotted an infringement on another player and pointed to the spot must to the frustration of the Oakley players. Dale REID took over penalty duties from Calum Watson and made no mistake putting the keeper the wrong way.

Roselea had another chance in six minutes when Watson headed a throw in into the path of Dale Reid but this time his volley was way off target. In 12 minutes Watson had a chance of his own when his downward header from a Reid cross was well held by Burgess in the Oakley goal.

Roselea had a let off in 17 minutes when a 25 yard low shot by Docherty hit the base of the post with Mcleod at full stretch but bounced wide to safety.

It was Roselea’s turn to have a go from 25 yards when Watson was tripped by Hughes who received a booking. Collier dummied and Duncan Reid shot high and over the bar with his curling effort.

Roselea were caught with a quick throw and Allan got the other side of Richardson before poking a shot which Mcleod tipped onto the bar and behind for a corner. In 23 minutes

Roselea were under pressure from a couple of Oakley headers before Collier sent Anderson away on a run and he in turn sent Watson away on the left however he shot from a tight angle and found the side netting. Roselea defended well on the half hour when Dairs shot was blocked by Collier in the box.

Roselea had another half chance in 38 minutes when Andersons long throw was headed on by Collier with Calum Watson inches away from getting a vital touch.

Mcleod had a great save a minute later when Dairs dipping cross was bravely held by the keeper with Allan almost getting on the end of it. Watson had another chance for Roselea on 40 minutes when Ryan Taylor dinked a ball to him on the corner of the box, he managed to get his shot away but could not direct it goalwards to give Burgess anything to think about.

Roselea defended well with Whyte managing to intercept a Conners flick away for a corner however this led to Oakleys equalising goal in 43 minutes. Roselea cleared the corner but when the ball came back in the ball took a kind deflection to SCARBOROUGH and he shot home from close range. This was a cruel blow as they had defended very well for the whole half. There was almost further pain for the home side a minute later when Ryan Taylor got caught under the ball and couldn’t clear and only a point blank save from Mcleod prevented them going in a goal down at half time.

Half Time: Montrose Roselea 1 Oakley Utd 1

In 48 minutes Whyte was booked for a tackle just outside the box in the centre of the Roselea goal for showing his studs. Dair hit a goalbound shot which struck the head of Richardson before going over.

In 59 minutes Roselea had their first good chance of the half. Duncan Reid rolled a ball into Watson and when his first shot was blocked with his left he hit a great volley which was charged down by a great tackle from Wilson.

Roselea got their noses in front in the 63 minutes with a great finish from Calum WATSON.  He combined well with Dale Reid who back heeled him in and past Walker and just when it looked like he had over run the ball he flicked it over the advancing Burgess and into the net from 12 yards.

Roselea were sitting in and inviting Oakley to come forward. In 70 minutes another fine save from Mcleod was required to beat the ball from Scarborough and away to safety. Oakley did equalise in 73 minutes when Charlie SCARBOROUGH finished from a tight angle with the ball taking a slight deflection on its way in.

Roselea were under the cosh a bit and Fotheringham wasted another chance for Oakley when he blasted over at a corner which Mcleod had missed. Roselea had a great chance to get back in front in 77 minutes when Reid pressurised Walker and the ball fell to Collier in the box but took an unfortunate bobble just before he hit it and the ball went wide.

A minute later a diagonal free kick from Anderson was headed back across goal by Whyte and keeper Burgess made a great save with Watson and Reid bearing down on him.

Roselea were hit by the sucker punch as so often they have this season with a late goal taking the three points back to Fife. With Roselea attacking in 86 minutes the ball broke to the other end and after Mcleod had saved the first shot the excellent DOCHERTY followed up to score from 6 yards. There was to be no further action and referee Ferguson called an end to proceedings.

Full Time: Montrose Roselea 2 Oakley Utd 3

This was yet another tough lesson for Roselea having yet again led twice before succumbing to a very experienced Oakley side. There was a spell in the second half where the home side failed to retain possession and this was to prove costly. There were some excellent performances with the returning Whyte & Richardson in central defence and Mcleod in goals worthy of a mention. There is still plenty of time for Roselea to resurrect the season but are slowly beginning to look disjointed at the bottom.

This week they face a tough trip to strong going Bathgate who are looking like one of the teams who will be in with a chance of the Title. There will be a bus running from the Golf Inn at 11am and supporters are welcome to travel.

ROSELEA SUNK AT PARKVIEW

Posted by Roy Gill at Sep 20, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

FAULDHOUSE UTD v MONTROSE ROSELEA

EAST REGION PREMIER LEAGUE

SAT SEPT 21st 2013

Roselea travelled to Fauldhouse’s Parkview for their latest Premier League match. On the back of two wins over Violet in the League and Rosyth in the Cup their was optimism in the ranks that a result could be achieved. There were the usual injury problems to contend with and Stewart Fletcher, Stuart Richardson and Jordan Reoch were all sidelined with Reoch’s looking more serious than first hoped. On top of that Callum Rae picked up a two game suspension for his red card and left Manager Brand with the bare bones with only Michael Cruickshank returning from work duty. The sides last met in the Premier League in 2010 with Roselea drawing 2-2 at Parkview after a 4-1 win at home however Fauldhouse is a notoriously hard place to go to and they would have to be at their best to take anything.

Roselea: Mcleod, P Taylor, R Taylor, Collier, Cruickshank, Brand, Riach Anderson, Dale Reid, Duncan Reid, Watson. Subs: Thomson & Gammie & Rausch.

Roselea started with a defensive formation with Calum Watson playing in the lone striker role. It was the home side who broke first when their wide right player cut it but his weak shot was not enough to trouble Mcleod.

In 4 minutes Riach sent a ball over the top for Watson to chase and he almost got on the end of it but the keeper was sharply off his line to sweep up. Roselea forced the first corner of the game in 10 minutes when Watson broke in the corner. Manager Brand had a volley at the edge of the box which was beaten down and the ball broke to the other end and only a great tackle from Collier prevented a goal.

Fauldhouse were having the lions share of the possession and they created a number of chances in succession. Mcleod had to save twice in a minute, first beating a header away with his fists then saving another header with his feet in 12 minutes. Fauldhouse took the lead in 21 minutes and it was a super goal from CHILTON. Paul Taylor cleared and he took the ball down on his chest before unleashing an unstoppable left footed volley into the top corner leaving Mcleod with no chance.

Worse was to follow when Fauldhouse doubled their lead. A great ball was played down the left flank behind Cruickshank and DONNELY came in behind Paul Tayler to slot home a great low cross in 23 minutes. Fauldhouse were looking good and their number 6 almost got a third when his great chip was clipped by Mcleod and he managed to smother before it reached the line in 25 minutes.

Roselea got an unexpected lifeline on the half hour mark against the run of play. Duncan Reid who had switched wings went on a great run skipping past 3 players before setting Anderson away on the right and his cross was flicked on by Watson before CRUICKSHANK came in to finish well from 6 yards.

There was a big let off from Roselea in 38 minutes when slack marking at a throw in and Chilton almost grabbed his second of the day with a header at the near post which he should have done better with. Fauldhouse continued to press Roselea but the visitors managed to contain them with long range shots until the half time whistle went much to their relief.

Half Time: Fauldhouse Utd 2 Montrose Roselea 1

Roselea came out in the second half with a more positive formation but again it was Fauldhouse who should have scored a minute into the game. They broke down the right hand side and after Mcleod blocked at the near post on a sliding block from Collier prevented a sure goal.

Roselea had a chance to get back on level terms in 48 minutes when a mistake by Fauldouse saw Duncan Reid slip the ball into Dale Reid whose shot from a tight angle almost sneaked in at the far post.

Roselea were right back into the game now and could sense that Fauldhouse were apprehensive. Anderson was brought down and when he sent in the free kick Watson picked up the ball on the right and a great defensive header at the neat post took out his dangerous cross. Wilkins was booked for the kick out and Anderson.

Roselea hand another chance on the hour mark when Cruickshank sent a ball across the face of the goal with a defenders defelction taking it away from Dale Reid and out for a corner. Wilkins created a bit of controversy in 63 minutes when he bore into the box and despite it looking like a dive inside the box as he pushed the ball between two players the referee awarded a free kick outside the box. The cross was wasted as it flashed behind to safety.

Roselea battled away and were having things a bit more their own way in the second half. Cruickshank sent in a dangerous cross which the keeper had to tip away to safety then he had a great chance after a slip in the box by the full back however he tried to square the ball was scooped high and wide relieving the danger. Roselea made a change in 83 minutes with Brand being replaced by Gammie. Roselea were caught with a sucker punch goal as they pressed for the equaliser when DONNELY made the most off a good ball and cut in from the right before drilling home from 12 yards in the 87th minute.

Full Time: Fauldhouse Utd 3 Montrose Roselea 1

Roselea travelled with a squad rifled by injury and after a torrid first half can look back on what could have been. The formation appeared not to be working with one man up front, allowing the home side to compose themselves at the back and set up wave after wave of attack. They went in happy being 2-1 down at half time but put in a brave second half performance that may have reaped fairer rewards. Results elsewhere means that Roselea drop to bottom spot. This week Roselea play Oakley Utd in the League at home with a 2pm kick off. Oakley Utd went down at home to bottom side Livingston Utd 3-2 on Saturday.

LATE WATSON WINNER SEND ROSELEA THROUGH

ROSYTH JFC v MONTROSE ROSELEA
EAST OF SCOTLAND CUP 1st ROUND

SAT SEPT 14th 2013

Roselea took a break from Premier League duty with a trip to Rosyth for an East of Scotland 1st Round Cup tie. On the back of their first league win against Violet the previous week there was confidence that they could progress against the Fife side who were lowly in the South District League. Roselea travelled with some personnel missing. Michael Cruickshank was unavailable due to work and Jordan Reoch was still struggling with his knee injury and sat out again with Stuart Richardson. Recent trialist Aaron Thomson had signed from Cowie Thistle and was also included in the squad and got the call to start with Paul Taylor feeling unwell after travelling. Scott Riach slotted in a right back with Thomson in the centre of defence. The sides last met on Premier League action in 2007-8 with Roselea recording a 4-0 win at home on the last day of the season with a 2-0 win at Rosyth being their first of that season in the league in November 2007.

Roselea: Mcleod, Thomson, R Taylor, Collier, Anderson, Fletcher, Rae, Duncan Reid, Dale Reid & Watson. Subs: Rausch, P Taylor, Gammie & Brand.

Roselea started strongly and had a tame penalty shout in only two minutes but should have possibly scored in four minutes. Watson dispossessed Livingstone at the edge of the box in a wide position and sent a great curling cross which Reid tried to volley when perhaps a header would have produced a better result.

Roysth suffered a blow in 5 minutes when Taylor had to leave the field after an accidental clash with Watson left his forehead dripping with blood and he was replaced by Strathearn.

Duncan Reid had a shot from 22 yards but was off target in 11 minutes when his namesake Dale held off a challenge.

Rosyth had their first sortie in 12 minutes when Gilfillan went on a run along the 18 yard box and when Thomson did not fully clear Johnstone had a shot which went wide.

Roselea then had a chance on 25 minutes when Watson collected a throw in, spun his defender and hit a low shot from 25 yards that Thrope in the home goal did well to turn round the post. Fletcher sent in a far post corner that Collier cleverly headed back across goal and Dale Reid almost connected at the other post.

Calum Rae was fortunate not to find himself in the referees book in 26 minutes when he took Taylor clean off his feet in the middle of the pitch. Things did boil over on the half hour mark and both sides had a player dismissed. Livingstone the Rosyth left back went in high with his knee on Rae and the Roselea man reacted angrily to the challenge. The referee was correct in showing both players to the changing rooms.

Roselea seemed to be the side affected by this and they went a goal behind two minutes later. A free kick was given away on the left hand side and when the waist high ball came in MACMILLAN found himself in space and flicked home.

Roselea had a half chance when Collier flicked a long Anderson thrown back to the edge of the box and Fletchers full volley went just wide of the post. Rosyth had a great chance in 39 minutes when Johnstone connected with a cross ball and his header hit the base of the post before being scrambled clear.

Half Time: Rosyth 1 Roselea 0

Roselea came out with their Managers words ringing in their ears and made a positive start. Riach played the ball wide to Fletcher and Watson just failed to connect with his brilliant curling cross at the far post.

Roselea got back on level terms in 55 minutes. Another Anderson long throw saw Collier and the keeper challenge and when the ball came to Fletcher he headed against the bar only to drop on the line but WATSON was sharpest to react and blasted home from very close range.

Rosyth had the move of the game with a series of passes up the Roselea left hand side before sub Strathearn swivelled and stabbed the ball agonisingly wide from 12 yards to the home teams anguish.

In 71 minutes it was Roselea’s turn to create and Anderson sent in a great ball after Reid had taken a short free kick to him, this time Watson failed to connect with the ball and it slipped behind for a bye kick. Watson went close again a minute later again just failing to connect with a Riach cross.

Stewart Fletcher had to leave the play in 74 minutes with a very obvious dislocated shoulder and had to be replaced by Gammie before heading to Hospital.

Both sides had great chances in similar fashion in 77 minutes. Watson was put through on the keeper who blocked with his legs then at the other end Johnstone looking offside found Mcleod in a similar mood not to concede and he saved well.

With penalties looming danger man Calum WATSON negated that need when he again found himself in on goal however this time the keeper could only deflect the ball up and over himself into the net via his legs.

Full Time: Rosyth 1 Montrose Roselea 2

Roselea were well within themselves to win this tie but also made it harder than the scoreline suggests. Rosyth’s goal was slightly against the run of play and certainly gave them a boost. Roselea dominated the second half with only the odd Rosyth break threatening however it took a late goal to settle things. With Stewart Fletchers injury and Calum Rae now suspended it is not looking great on the numbers front however they are hopeful Stuart Richardson & Jo Reoch will be back from injury and Michael Cruickshank will return.

Roselea now head to Fauldhouse Utd on Premier League duty this coming Saturday and it will be another tough test against one of the fancied sides. The match kicks off at 2.30pm and a bus will be running from the Golf Inn at 11am with club supporters welcome to travel. This will be a run of two matches in the League with Oakley Utd coming to Broomfield Park on Sat 28th with a 2pm Kick Off. Roselea will be offering their normal Hospitality packages for this and the upcoming games v Glenrothes (Oct 12th almost sold out) and Arniston Rangers on Oct 19th.

Tickets are also selling well for the Ladies Dinner which is on Saturday 26th October at the Links Hotel with Guest Speakers Isobel Rutter and Eric Davidson. Tickets priced at £35 a head can be purchased by contacting Roy Gill on 07908 763219 or email gill.fin@btinternet.com

ROSELEA LIFTED BY VIOLET WIN!

Posted by Roy Gill at Sep 6, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

MONTROSE ROSELEA v DUNDEE VIOLET

McBOOKIE.COM EAST PREMIER LEAGUE

SAT Sept 7th 2013

Although Roselea entered their 6th Premier League game pointless there was still optimism that points could be picked up and the recovery started. Roselea were boosted by the loan signing of Duncan Reid from Forfar Athletic, the 19 year old has first team experience at Station Park and the return of Michael Cruickshank. Birthday boy Jo Reoch was a major doubt for the match and did not feature as did Stuart Richardson who also had to sit it out. Violet with a young squad had made a decent start when compared to Roselea but strangely went down to two late Pumperston goals the previous week. Ex Roselea midfielder Robert Urquhart made a return to Broomfield Park following his transfer to the Glenesk Park side last season.

Roselea: Mcleod, P Taylor, R Taylor, Collier Fletcher, Rae, Anderson, Cruickshank, Dale Reid, Watson & Duncan Reid. Subs: Rausch, Reid, Gammie, Thomson & Riach.

Broomfield Park was in excellent condition and a healthy crowd had assembled with Senior football on the International break.

In 3 minutes Roselea almost replicated Belgiums goal at Hampden the previous night when Reid got to the byeline and cut back to Watson but his shot lacked the accuracy and power of Defour for the Belgians.

Anderson of Roselea committed a late foul on Kelly of Violet in the eight minute and despite a fouled being awarded and the player receiving treatment Anderson escaped without a word in the ear.

Watson had a great chance in 10 minutes when Ryan Taylor playing in a new central defensive role set him away and he tried to steer the ball past the keeper at the near post but missed the target. Anderson then had a decently struck shot held well by Craig in the Violet goal in 14 minutes.

In 21 minutes Dale Reid then looked set to latch on to a high ball into the box as his pace took him away from Gibb but seemed to be looking for the keeper coming out however he stuck to his line and Kelly nipped in to clear.

Violet had their first real shot on goal in 25 minutes when McConnachie and Middleton combined well with the former hitting a low shot which Mcleod handled well.

A foul was awarded to Roselea on the right hand side after a late tackle on Paul Taylor in 28 minutes. Cruickshank sent in a low ball and Watson turned and shot only to see his effort blocked for a corner. From the corner Roselea for the sixth game running opened the scoring. Cruickshank took the corner and some good movement in the penalty area left Calum WATSON unmarked and he headed home from close range.

In 34 minutes Gary Middleton of Violet appeared to be lucky to remain on the pitch after being booked for a late tackle then continuing his argument with the referee and using strong language.

Watson then raced away for Roselea and after cutting in on to his left the shot was over the bar.

Roselea almost let their lead slip in the 43rd minute when following a corner Milton hit a screaming low shot which had Mcleod scrambling to his post to cover.

Half Time: Roselea 1 Violet 0

It was good to see Assistants at Broomfield for the first time this season however Roselea had a great goal correctly ruled off for an offside just two minutes into the second half. Watson flicked the ball round the back of the full back for Fletcher and he sent in a first time cross which Dale Reid finished into the corner of the net.

In 52 minutes Violet had a chance when the unmarked Milton got his head to an Urquhart cross but Mcleod watched the ball over the bar safely.

Two yellow cards were shown to Anderson of Roselea and Ronan of Violet after they tangled the only surprise was the award of a free kick to Violet as Anderson appeared to be impeded as Roselea attacked.

Roselea were looking lively and keen to add to their lead. In 59 minutes Paul Taylor played a ball to the feet of Dale Reid and he flicked the ball on perfectly for the strong run of Anderson who bore in from the right and he almost picked out Duncan Reid at the back post but Kelly intercepted for a corner. When the low corner came in Collier had a half chance but his weak left foot shot was cleared on the line.

Roselea were well on top and deservedly increased their lead with another headed goal from Calum WATSON in 61 minutes. Paul Taylor sent in a deep cross field ball and Watson headed strongly past Craig from 8 yards to send Roselea well on their way to three points.

Violet were feeling a sense of injustice both on and off the park and this boiled over in 63 minutes when Middleton was shown a straight red card for dissent.

Roselea made doubly sure of the points with a third goal in 70 minutes. Watson flicked a header on to Dale REID and his half volley bounced to deceive the keeper and make things very comfy for the home side.

Reid then cut inside before being brought down by Gibb on the edge of the area. Stewart Fletcher bent a curling free kick round the wall and brought out a great save from keeper Craig to keep Violet in with a shout.

Roselea made a substitution after a late tackle on Paul Taylor saw Thomson replace him in 79 minutes.

Before play could resume Violets Samson was shown a second yellow and also took an early bath. Violet were not having a great day and the scorned a chance in 82 minutes when Mcleod palmed a free kick out to Urquhart and he should have at least hit the target from 8 yards but shot wildly over.

Roselea made their final two subs in 85 minutes when Gammie & Rausch replaced Watson & Dale Reid.

Final Score: Montrose Roselea 3 Dundee Violet 0

Roselea finally got their Premier League season off to a start and did so in style with another great performance albeit this time rewarded with a win. It was a great team showing and Violet did not have anything to match them in any department. On this showing and also in all the other matches they have played there will be nothing to stop them rising in what is an extremely open League. The win surprisingly takes Roselea off bottom place with Livingston Utd losing their fifth game after winning on the opening day at Broomfield.

Roselea take a break from League business with an East of Scotland Cup 1st Round tie at Rosyth with a 2.30pm Kick Off. Roselea received a bye in the 1st Round of the Scottish Junior Cup and will now travel to Fauldhouse on Sept 21st in the League. Roselea have no fixture yet for the 5th October but have a run of three home league matches with Oakley on Sept 28th, Glenrothes on Oct 12th and Arniston Rangers on Oct 19th. This will be a chance to try and get some more League points on the board. Roselea will also be offering the normal Hospitality packages for all these games.
