JAGS AND LEA SHARE THE POINTS

Montrose Roselea 1-1 Dalkeith Thistle

Roselea picked up a valuable point against 5th placed Dalkeith after a performance on the whole that just about merited 2 more.

The Broomfield park groundsmen worked round the clock to ensure the game was played after torrential rain in the build up to the area had put the fixture in doubt.

The weather was dull and the first half entertainment was not much better. Roselea created the first chance of the match after 21 minutes when Collier laid the ball to Mowatt but the forward crucially slipped at the wrong time to cancel out the opportunity to shoot.

The best move of the half and arguably the match came after 31 minutes. A long ball was superbly knocked down by Watson into Cruikshank's path. The winger cut the ball ball to Mowatt and his fierce strike was well saved by Paterek but the ball rebounded to Campbell but the Roselea player could only blast over from 10 yards out.

It has to be said both defences were well on top with what the opposition threw at them and half time came without any more clear chances.

The start of the second half was the opposite to the end of the first with chances galore at both ends.

Cruickshank played a superb low pass in to Campbell at the back post and his effort looked to be heading into the corner before a defender blocked his effort.

Almost immediately Dalkeith had a similar move themselves with HUNTER receiving a low cross and made no mistake in the finish to put his team 1-0 up.

After 54 minutes Cruickshank gathered from Campbell and took a touch before blasting towards goal but the effort was equally matched by Paterek in goal.

Mowatt won a penalty for the home team after 56 minutes drawing a handball from an opposition defender. WATSON stepped up and smashed the ball home to draw things level.

The pitch was beginning to tear up and a bad bounce found Rae in trouble at the back but he made a terrific recovering tackle to thwart Lally who looked in on goal.

The away team were beginning to create chances and although their was a hint of handball in Hunter's control, the referee played on but McLeod made a good save to keep the score level.

Osborne had a great chance on 70 minutes but leant back and blasted over for the away side.

A minute later Mowatt nearly put the home team up when he rounded the keeper and shot from the narrowest angles but his effort hit the side netting.

Roselea had one more chance when a Campbell cross found Watson but the striker couldn't find the target with his header.

Roselea made a couple of late changes with Greig and Findlater replacing Campbell and Sturrock.

A good point overall against a team who are near the top of the league. Despite going a goal down Roselea battled their way back into the game which they have failed to do lately when conceding first.

Next week sees them host Dundonald Bluebell 2pm kick off. Hospitality is available should anyone want to book it.

Roselea McLeod, Rae, Sturrock(Findlater), Thomson, Whyte, Collier, Campbell, Anderson, Watson, Mowatt, Cruickshank(Greig)
