KINNOULL v MONTROSE ROSELEA

Roselea travelled to Perth to face Kinnoull in their latest Premier League match. Buoyed by their victory over League leaders Roselea were hoping for a bounce on against a team who were sitting comfortably in the middle of the League. The last time the sides met was in Nov 2009 when Matt Miller scored one of his few goals for Roselea in a 4-1 defeat.

 

Roselea travelled with Calum Watson still on the injury table and Craig Anderson sat out the last of his three game suspension. 16 year old Craig Taylor was again listed a substitute.

 

Tulloch Park was looking in good condition and although there was a Spring like feel to the day there was a blustery wind coming down onto the pitch.

In an even opening Roselea played the ball about well but it was Kinnoull who created the first opening when Dodd cut back and the in rushing McKinlay didn’t think he was going to get the ball and Taylor cleared.

 

Roselea had a claim for a penalty in 8 minutes but Collier appeared to have slipped before the challenge came in and the ref got the call right for a corner.

 

Roselea thought they had opened the scoring on the 20^th minute. Rae played the ball square to Riach and he slipped the ball to Collier who shot from 12 yards at the angle but somehow managed to pull the shot wide of the post.

 

Reid then created another chance for himself when he cut along the 18 yard box and with Riach arriving to support he shot whilst off balance and the ball went very wide.

 

Roselea were on top and pressing Kinnoull but in a rare break they were caught out and fell behind to a counter attacking goal in 28 minutes. Fleming switched a long clearance to McKINLAY who twisted and turned Rae before slamming home from 15 yards.

 

In 35 minutes Whyte escaped a booking when he went in ragged on Taylor the Kinnoull striker and a free kick was awarded 30 yards out. Dougan had the ball tapped to him and he struck a great low shot which Mcleod had to hold with two players ready to snap up any spills.

 

In 38 minutes Roselea went two behind when a far post cross deceived Mcleod and Darren TAYLOR the ex Stonehaven striker got his head to the ball and it only just squirmed over the line.

 

Roselea had a great chance to get back into the game in 43 minutes when a great pass from Reoch put Dale Reid in on the keeper but his low shot found the feet of home keeper Sorely when he should really have scored.

Roselea opened the second half still looking for something to give them hope of coming back into the game. Reid and Reoch both had little chances but could not manage to get shots away.

 

In 60 minutes Rae had to be replaced by Paul Taylor due to injury.

 

Dale Reid once again created a good chance for himself in 63 minutes when he made space in the box but once again dragged his shot wide of the goals albeit he was off balance.

 

Some good refereeing giving an advantage after Collier being fouled saw Reid again getting a chance to score but missed the target in 65 minutes.

 

In a mirror copy of the first half Kinnoull once again scored against the run of play when TAYLOR picked up a loose ball 22 yards out and struck a great low volley which Mcleod let squirm underneath him and the ball once again agonisingly trundled into the net.

 

Roselea made another change with Craig Taylor replacing Reid meaning that there were three brother on the pitch for Roselea. A couple of minutes later Thomson then replaced the injured Richardson.

 

Craig Taylor almost had the perfect debut when he found himself free inside the 18 yard box but he couldn’t get his shot on target and the ball went wide.

 

Roselea eventually got back into the game with a goal of great simplicity when RIACH played a one-two with Collier just inside the box and finished well from 10 yards out to make it 3-1 with 11 minutes remaining.

 

Just as Roselea were back in things within a flash Kinnoull sealed the win with a fourth goal in 84 minutes. Substitute FERTACZ went past Thomson and any claims for offside were in vein with Paul Taylor playing him onside and he slotted a low shot into the net from 16 yards.

 

As time ticked away for Roselea Collier had a good run in the box but could not cut the ball back then Ryan Taylor went on a surging run but shot wide.

Although this defeat equalled Roselea’s worst of the season there was not much between the sides. Both teams had around 5-6 chances each and the result came from the home sides ability to convert these although three of the goals were soft. Just like in the early part of the season Roselea could not find their shooting boots and the two chances in the first half could possibly have swung the game. There were great performances from Reoch in midfield and Collier worked hard to get the ball and held it up well for Roselea upfront. Results elsewhere meant Roselea did not lose any ground and remain third bottom.

 

Next week Roselea travel to Livingston utd in what will be a 6 pointer match with both teams on 18 points and the Lothian side having two games in hand. Roselea will be running a bus and supporters are welcome to travel free of charge as per usual and it will leave the Golf Inn at 11.00am.
