DALKEITH THISTLE v MONTROSE ROSELEA

McBOOKIE.COM EAST PREMIER LEAGUE
SAT NOV 16
th 2013

Roselea headed over the Forth Bridge to Dalkeith with the usual selection problems they have been plagued with all season. In addition to Jo Reoch (injured) and James Collier (holiday) Stuart Richardson (broken nose), Paul Taylor, Michael Cruickshank & Gammie (work) and Danny Ross suspended the squad was yet again threadbare.

Dalkeith sat 6th in the table with 17 points having played one more game than Roselea who sit on 9 points. The visitors were looking for a win to take them out the bottom quartile of the table. After a break of three weeks due to Scottish Cup duty this would be their first League game for several weeks with the 3rd Round tie against Aberdeen East End coming up on Sat 23rd.

Roselea: Mcleod, Richardson, Thompson, Whyte, R.Taylor, Riach, Anderson, Rausch, Duncan Reid, Fletcher, Watson. Subs: Dale Reid, Jo Reoch

Dalkeith Thistle: Kesson, Paterson, Main, Gavin, Liddle, Murray, Morris, Haynes, Pusledzki, Waters. Subs: Flynn, Hunter, Lally, McNaughton, Young.

There was an early chance for Roselea after 3 minutes when Duncan Reid robbed a dalkieth  player in the middle of the park and went on a run past the last man and then squared it for Calum Watson but the ball did not settle for him to shoot.

Dalkeith then got a corner after four minutes. They took the corner short and then at the edge of the box MORRIS hit it down and it ended in the net with Mcleod unsighted.

Stuart Richardson who was playing with his broken nose then got hit in the face by the ball and while he was receiving treatment Taylor had a header which came close to making it 2-0 to dalkeith. Stuart Richardson returned to the park.

Dalkeith Thistle were then awarded a penalty for a adjudged handball by Aaron Thompson who could do little to prevent the ball hitting his hand. HAYNES took the penalty and sent McLeod the wrong way. 2-0 to Dalkeith Thistle.

There was another chance for Roselea to get back into the game on 21 minutes break from Calum Watson out left, he cuts inside and it bobbled and it went harmlessley over the bar.

On 23 minutes Jordon Rausch broke forward and then Calum Watson flicked it over and Rausch was brought down and that was the 3rd yellow card for a Dalkeith player.

Roselea had a handball claim which was denied on 30 minutes when Paul Whytes free kick looked to have hit a Dalkeith arm which looked familiar to Dalkeith’s penalty that was given.

Haynes had a chance to put Dalkeith three ahead when he tried to chip McLeod but it went narrowly over.

Rausch had a chance on 40 minutes when he collected the ball in the centre of the park and decided to have a hit which went past the post.

Half Time: Dalkeith Thistle 2-0 Montrose Roselea

First chance of the half was from Dalkeiths Pusledzki when he cut in from the left and was about to shoot when Paul Whyte tackled him and the ball went out for a corner.

56 minutes played and it became 3-0 to Dalkeith when a corner was swung in too far and the cross came back in and LIDDLE headed it in from close range back across the Roselea rearguard and into the net.

Great chance for Roselea on the hour mark when Calum Watson was played through and he shrugged of a Dalkeith challenge and the keeper made himself big and saved well.

A dangerous ball across the roselea box from a Dalkeith free-kick on 65 minutes and Ross Mcleod saved and threw it out to Rausch who made a good run up the park and then was fouled by Taylor who was booked. Craig Anderson took the free kick but yet again found the Dalkeith wall.

67 minutes and Roselea get what turned out to be a consolation when Taylor  whipped in a great free-kick and everybody missed it but RICHARDSON was at the back post and tapped it in to make it Dalkeith 3-1 Montrose Roselea.

On the 72nd minute Riach put in a cross to Watson who was offside.

On 82 minutes Calum Watson was shown a second yellow card when a long ball was sent and Watson and the Dalkeith keeper collided and Watson was debatably sent off.

Full Time: Dalkeith Thistle 3-1 Montrose Roselea

Roselea can have no complaints about the result as they threw away three easily preventable goals from set pieces and after losing two early goals they were always chasing the game. On the plus side it was another of the long trips over the Forth out of the way and another trip to one of the top half sides ticked off as well. The position with the squad was also a tough factor but the players will need to pick themselves up for next weeks Scottish Cup 3rd Round tie with Aberdeen East End. The match kicks off at 1.45pm and Hospitality places are available by contacting Roy Gill on 07908763219.
