ROSELEA "HAM"PERED AT NORTH END

DUNDEE NORTH END v MONTROSE ROSELEA

EAST REGION NORTH DIVISION

SATURDAY APRIL 30TH 2011  

Roselea travelled to North End Park Dundee in search of a win to keep up their hopes if winning the North Division title. The team travelled without the injured Calum Rae & Paul Whyte with the other long-term absentees Ewan Graham & Colin Page also missing. With 3 games to go, a win was a must with Downfield having 2 games to go and 3 points ahead.   

Roselea: McLeod, Colquhoun, Reid, Reoch, Mustard, Strachan, Kennedy, Fotheringham, Urquhart, Collier & Watson. Subs: Riach, Aitken, Hood, David Craig, Douglas Craig, Miller & Brand.  

Roselea kicked off on a firm but flat surface. The first incident to report was James Collier being replaced by Lee hood due to hamstring injury in 10 minutes. A similar fate followed for Craig Watson and he was replaced by Scott Riach due to a similar injury on the half hour mark. The first half had no goalmouth action neither keeper was tested as the half drew to a close.  

HALF TIME DUNDEE NORTH END 0-0 MONTROSE ROSELEA  

The second half started brighter. In 46 minutes Mustard had to block a McComskie shot.

Roselea then had a chance in 51 minutes when the ball broke to bob Urquart and his shot was turned behind by Fotheringham.  A minute later Hood had a great chance for Roselea after a long ball caught out the North End defence but his left footed shot was just off target from the angle. 

North End took the lead in the 59th minute when Roselea failed to clear their lines and Mark PERCY lashed the ball home in the top corner. North End go close a minute later when number 9 just putting it past the post. North End had a penalty claim in 71 minutes when McComskie went down in the box but the ref seen it as diving and booked him.  

Roselea were searching for an equaliser and in 75 minutes and Hood collected a throw in before shooting and his goalbound shot was deflected behind for a corner. From the corner Kennedy and Strachan worked a short move with the former unleashing a goalbound shot which was deflected behind for a corner. 

 In 77 minutes the ball broke out to Colin Kennedy who elected to shoot however Fotheringham was in a better position & the shot was blocked. Aitken then replaced another hamstring victim in 78 minutes.

North End had a chance in 85 minutes when a far post cross was met by McComskie and he blasted it over when he should’ve took a touch before shooting. Roselea pushed for an equaliser however North End saw out a crucial victory in their quest to win the title. 

 

FULL TIME: DUNDEE NORTH END 1-0 MONTROSE ROSELEA. 

This was a must win game for Roselea and with Downfield winning 1-0 against Brechin Vics Roselea’s season now looks over. Roselea now have 2 games left with Lochee Harp at home on Saturday May 7th Followed by ASC away on a date to be decided.
