David Maristany Assistant Coach - INF.

Posted by Ray Evans at Feb 4, 2013 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

David Maristany is in his 1st year as an assistant coach with Ray Evans and Flanagan H.S. Coach Maristany returns to his old stomping grounds where he played high school baseball from 2001-04. As a sophomore, Maristany won the 3rd base job on the Varsity and was starter there for 3 years. Coach Evans took over the Flanagan program in 2003 and coached Maristany during his senior year. The team made it to the Regional Finals that year, one step short of making it to the State Final Four. Maristany was voted to the Broward County All-Star game as well as the State All-Star game.

Maristany went on to play at Jackson State Community College in Jackson, Tennessee and hit .420 as a sophomore. He then went on to play at Union University where he hit.330 as a junior and .360 as a senior. He was awarded the conference's Gold Glove award while playing 3rd base his senior year. After he finished his eligibility Maristany stayed on as a Graduate Asst. Coach for the next two years while finishing his degree. He worked with the infielders as well as the hitters. Union University won back to back conference championships during Maristany's tenure as the Graduate Asst. Coach.

Falcons Advance in HSBN Fall Classic Tournament

Posted by Ray Evans at Nov 10, 2012 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Falcons went 3-0 during the first round of the HSBN tournament this week. They beat St. Thomas by a score of 6-4. Two days later they played Coral Glades. and beat them 11-1. The third and final game was played against Piper Saturday evening and the Falcons came out on top 8-0.

There were a lot of good performances by many different players on the team. Young sophomore pitcher, Hunter Platts and Junior Luis Barranco pitched very well against St. Thomas in the 6-4 victory. Sophomore Dakota Doyle pitched a gem in a complete 5 inning 11-1 win against Coral Glades . Juniors Kharlin Sued and Luis Barranco combined to complete the 8-0 shutout win against Piper. The pitchers only gave up 5 runs in 3 games with 4 being earned.

The defense was spectacular in the three games played with only one error being made in the first game win against St. Thomas. The hitters did their job providing plenty of run support in each of the games.  The offense produced 25 runs in 3 games with everybody in the lineup getting into the action at some point.

The Falcons will advance to the second round and will host St. Thomas in a best of 3 series.  The second round action at Falcon field is below.
