FALCONS / BSN CHALLENGE
The Flanagan Falcons will host the 11th Annual Falcon Challenge Tournament sponsored by BSN. The Tournament will feature some of the top teams from Dade and Broward counties. The tournament will start on February 19th and run thru February 23rd.

Collin Martindale Assistant Coach
Collin Martindale enters his 3rd season with Ray Evans and his staff at Flanagan High School. Coach Martindale will be assisting Coach Figueroa with the infielders and Coach Stein with the outfielders, as well as taking care of the base running and bunting.
Coach Martindale is a 2010 graduate of Flanagan High School, playing for Coach Ray Evans and his staff from 2007-2010 where he has a 3-year Varsity letterman. In 2008 he was awarded the 10th Man award helping his team to a Regional Final appearance. In 2009 he was named to Sun-Sentinel and Miami Herald All Broward Honorable Mention Team and was also given the Varsity Coaches Award. Martindale wnded his high school career in 2010 with a 6A State Championship and as Baseball America's National Champions. He was named to the All Broward Honorable Mention Team again and also was awarded the Varsity Coaches Award, which is now known as the Ryan Smith Award.
Coach Martindale went on to play collegiate baseball at Felician College in New Jersey for Coach Chris Langan. As a freshman, Coach Martindale led his team in at bats (158), steals (20), and number of games played (46). He was twice awarded CACC Rookie of the Week during his freshman year.
Coach Collin Martindale learned through little league, highschool, and college to love the game of baseball and have passion for it as well. His goal is to try and instill that love and passion into the Falcon players and guide them in the right direction to be successful in all aspects of life.
He is currently finishing up his degree in Criminal Justice at Broward College. He currently resides in Pembroke Pines.

Luis Penate Assistant Coach - Hitting, INF
Luis Penate enters his 1st season with Ray Evans and his staff at Flanagan High School. Coach Penate will be assisting Coach Figueroa with the infielders, and Coach Stein with the hitting.
Luis, who was known as “Sweet Lou” in his playing days as a shortstop for the Falcons, was a 2007 graduate of Flanagan High School. He played for Coach Evans and his staff from 2004-2007. As the starting shortstop, Lou was a 4-year varsity lettermen that went to a Regional Final in 2004, won Back-To-Back State Titles in 2005-2006, and went to a Final Four in 2007. Lou was named All-County during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. After graduation, Lou was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 23rd round of 2007 MLB draft, but decided to continue his education by accepting a baseball scholarship to Central Florida Community College. He had 2 outstanding years at CFCC during the 08-09 seasons and was named to the All-Conference Team. After he finished his career at CFCC, Lou accepted another baseball scholarship to Nova Southeastern University, NSU. Lou would go on to finish his playing career and graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management in 2011.
Coach Penate believes in giving back where it all started for him, so he decided to come back to Flanagan High School to see this year’s players mature and grow into young men. He currently is a Physical Education Teacher at Saint Gregory Catholic School and resides in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
