Posted by Joe Chacko on Apr 15 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
Flanagan bounced back from their 3 game losing streak in California with a 6-0 shutout win over Deerfield Beach. Sophomore David Thomas(5-3) got back on track pitching a complete game, 3 hit shutout. He struck out 7 on the night. Offensively the Falcons spotted Thomas a 4-0 lead after 1 inning capped by a 2 run home run by Joel Carranza to left centerfield. The homer, his 6th on the year extends Carranza's season long hitting streak to 23 games. Nick Navarro and DJ Swatscheno went 2 for 3 each to help pace the offense. Chris Connelly extended the lead to 6-0 in the 3rd inning with a 2 run double down the right field line. Flanagan will gear up for an away matchup against the 4A State Champions, Monsignor Pace on Wednesday night. The game will be at 7:00pm. On Thursday the Falcons return home for their final regular season home game of the year. The baseball program will recognize their most successful senior class in Flanagan history with "Senior Night at the Ballpark". Please encourage all friends and family to attend the ceremonies and game against Pembroke Pines Charter. Records: Flanagan(17-6) Deerfield Beach(13-11)
