First Loss of the Season
The Falcons suffered their first loss of the season, 7-6, at the hands of Port St. Lucie.
The Falcons battled back and forth in a game that saw the lead change 3 times. Alex Sarmiento suffered the loss as he pitched 5.2 innings giving up 7 runs, 6 being earned, on 12 hits while striking out 2. Jeremy Cook came on in relief to pitch the final 1.1 innings, giving up no runs on no hits.
On the offensive side, the Falcons had 3 players with a multiple hit game. Andres Rios and David Sarmiento each had 2 hits with an RBI while rookie Mark Vientos had 3 hits with an RBI. 7 out of 9 starters had at least 1 hit in the game, with 8 of them reaching base at least once.
It still wasn't enough though as the Falcons dropped a game they should have won. The defense did not have a good day as they made costly mistakes that ultimately did in the Falcons.
The Falcons (12-1) will take on Manatee H.S. at Buck O'Neil Complex at 4:30pm.
