Charles W. Flanagan High School Baseball

The Falcons dropped a pivital District 12 game last night losing 11-7 to rival Cypress Bay(7-2, 5-0) at home. Flanagan(6-4, 3-1) trailed from the outset giving up 6 unearned runs in the 1st inning with the big blow being a grand slam home run by RF Zach Perez. The Falcons would climb back into the game cutting the lead to 6-5 in the 4th inning capped by a 2 run home run off the bat of Rolando Gomez. Flanagan would not get any closer as the Lightning put up another 5 runs in the 5th inning (3 unearned) to put the game out of reach. RJ Fondon(2-3) took the loss scattering 7 hits and striking out 6 over 4 and 1/3 innings. The Falcons offense was led by Diego Delgado who went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Zach Jackson, Josh Gonzaga and Justin Frias had 2 hits apiece. Flanagan will travel to Parkland on Saturday to face Stoneman-Douglas. Game time is set for 11:00am.
