Falcons Roll Past South Plantation 17-0

Flanagan wasted little time getting past South Plantation in the Regional Quarterfinals last night at Falcons Field. They scored 3 runs in the 1st, 7 runs in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd and 6runs in the 4th to win 17-0 in a 5 inning mercy rule shortened contest. Mike Melendez opened the scoring with a 2 run double in the 1st plating Ricky Santiago and Robert Collin. Zack Collins hit a triple down the right field line scoring Andres Sanchez for the 3rd run of the inning. The Falcons(21-2) broke the game open in the 2nd inning highlighted by Gabby Aurrecoechea's 2nd HR of the season a Grand Slam to deep right field on a slider down and in. Ryan Lozada(2 for2, 2 runs); Danny Zardon(2 for 3, BB, 2B, 2 runs, RBI); Mike Melendez(2 for 3, 2B, 4 RBI) and Zack Collins(2 for 2, 2 BB's, 2B, RBI) all had multi-hits in the game.

Mike Emigh(7-0) pitched 3 solid innings for the win. He allowed just 2 hits, 1 BB and struck out 3. Jose Mesa and Robert Collin pitched 1 inning a piece to close out the game.

Flanagan advances to the Regional Semifinals on Friday May 6th. They will host West Broward @ 7pm.
