Sued Shuts Down Riverview

Posted by Ray Evans on Mar 26 2014 at 05:00PM PDT

The Falcons squeezed out a 2-1 victory against Sarasota Riverview on the arm of Kharlin Sued to open up the Sarasota Tournament.

Sued (4-0) was masterful all evening, giving up 1 unearned run on 5 hits while striking out 3 in 6 innings pitched. He was able to control the Riverview bats and with the help of Miguel Presno behind the plate, control the running game as well. Chris Rodriguez came on in relief to record his 3rd save of the year by striking out 2 of the 4 hitters he saw.

The Falcons started the 6th inning behind 1-0 with the heart of the lineup coming to bat. With 1 out, Oscar "Bui" Rodriguez stroked a double down the left field line. Ryan Dodge came to bat and followed that up with a single, and on the overthrow Dodge went to second. Alex Sarmiento came in to run for Dodge, and with 1 out and runners at 2nd and 3rd, Eric Rivera came through with a clutch line drive double down the left field line to score both runners and make the score 2-1. That was all the Falcon pitchers would need.

The Falcons (12-0) will take on Port St. Lucie at 10 am at Sarasota H.S.
