Sanchez's 2 Homers Lead to Blowout of Lightning

Andres Sanchez moved into 2nd place on the Falcons single season home run record books with his 11th and 12th HR's of the season. His 1st blast tied him with 2008 graduate Rolando Gomez (11 HR) in 2006. The record is held by 2000 graduate Mike Napoli who led the State with 17 HR's his Senior season.

Flanagan(15-2, 8-1) pounded out 17 runs on 12 hits en route of Cypress Bay 17-2. The Lightning fell to 7-9 overall, 4-5 in District 12. In the 1st inning the Falcons jumped out in front 2-0 on an RBI single by Mike Melendez scoring Robert Collin who walked. Melendez then came around to score on back to back wild pitches. Flanagan would go on to score 3 runs in the 2nd and 2 more runs in the 3rd before blowing the game open with a 10 run 4th inning. Sanchez would hit a 1-2 curveball out to left field to lead off the 4th inning and his 3 run blast to centerfield would come later that same inning. Zack Collins(2 for 3, 2B, HR, RBI) and Matthew Figueroa(2 for 2, 3 runs, 2 RBI) had multi-hits in the game. Ryan Lozada reached base all 3 at bats going 1 for 1 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored.

Mike Emigh(5-0) was the recipient of all the offense hurling the complete game 5 hitter. He allowed 1 earned run with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts over the 5 innings of work.

The Falcons travel to West Broward on Thursday for a showdown for 1st place in District 12 against the Bobcats. West Broward(10-7, 8-0) won the 1st matchup 4-3 for the lone blemish on the Falcons District record.
