Santiago's 2 Blasts Lift Falcons to the Regional Final

Flanagan advances to the Regional Final for the 7th time in 8 seasons by dismantling West Broward 12-2. Sr. shortstop Ricky Santiago had a banner night going 4 for 5 hitting 2 home runs and driving in 6 runs. The Falcons jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the 1st inning on a 2 run triple by Andres Sanchez who broke the Flanagan single season RBI record with his 48th and 49th RBI of the season. 2002 graduate Roger Tomas held the record with 47. Danny Zardon went 3 for 4 with his 6th HR of the season and Mike Melendez continued his HR streak going 2 for 4 with a solo shot in the 4th inning.

Melendez(8-2) earned the win scattering 6 hits allowing 2 runs and striking out 4 over 6 innings.

Flanagan(22-2) will host Park Vista(22-7) on Friday May 13th at 7:00pm in the Regional Final. The Falcons(2005,06,07,10) and Cobras(2008,09) are the only 2 teams to represent Region 3 in the past 6 years at the State Tournament.
