3 Falcons Sign Division 1 Letters of Intent

Posted by Joe Chacko on Nov 13 2007 at 04:00PM PST

Flanagan continues to produce Division 1 Talent as 3 more Falcons sign their National Letters of Intent on the 1st day of the official Baseball Division 1 Signing period.

4 year starter R.J. Fondon inked his name on a NLI to Florida International University. The left handed pitcher is one of the top recruits for Turtle Thomas in his 1st season as the Golden Panthers Head Coach. R.J. went 10-1 last season guiding the Falcons to a 3rd straight Final Four Appearance. He was named 2nd Team All-State and 1st Team All-Broward in 2007.   R.J. holds a 20-3 career mark.

3 year starter Rolando Gomez looks to step right into the shoes of Jemile Weeks as he signed his NLI with the University of Miami. Roly has been a star 3rd baseman for the Falcons the past 2 seasons but this year he will move to his natural position at short stop. The Hurricanes project the 5'08, 165 pounder to be the next rising star at 2nd base. A 1st Team All-State selection in 2006, he helped guide the Falcons offense to their 2nd consecutive State Title. In 2007 he was named 2nd Team All-State and 1st Team All-Broward.

Newcomer Josh "Bear" Gonzaga has been a pleasant addition to the Flanagan program this year. The Nova transfer has fit in nicely with the team and his talent has landed him a Division 1 scholarship  to Eastern Tennessee State University. The left hander will be a solid starter on the mound and at 1st base while batting in the middle of the lineup.

Congratulations to these 3 fine baseball players for their achievements on the field and in the classroom!!!
