Week 12 Round Up

Floral Arts 18 - Mario’s 7

Floral Arts scored in every inning, on Tuesday night, to defeat Mario's, 18-6. Jonathan Morgan (4 for 5, two home runs, six RBIs) led the way for Floral Arts, and Jim Peloquin hit his 17th and 18th home runs of the season. Larry Mardany pitched a solid game and chipped in with four hits. Mario's got a star performance in the field and at bat by rookie standout Thanh Nguyen, who played short and hit three monster home runs.

Mustangs 9 – Drew Farms 6

Drew Farms nearly pulled off a great upset over the undefeated Mustangs. Bill Knute led the Mustangs with two homers, six RBIs, and a great over the shoulder catch at the fence in left center field to snuff out a Drew Farms rally. Craig Smith chipped in with three hits and two runs scored. Pitcher Paul Ligouri earned the win and made a couple outstanding plays. Tom Menicci went 3 for 3 for Drew Farms, with a three-run homer to close the deficit to three runs in the sixth, but that's how it ended.

Healy 21 Mario’s 15 (8 innings)

Healy jumped on top, 8 to 1, in the second inning before Mario’s slowly came back, culminating in a seven-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the score at 14. Mario’s had the bases loaded with two out, but could not push the winning run across home plate. Healy put up seven runs in the top half of the eighth inning, and Mario’s could only manage a single run in response in the bottom half. Thanh Nguyen (three home runs and five RBI), Murph McKeon (four hits, including two doubles and a hustle triple), and John Geary (triple and four hits) led the way offensively for Mario’s. Nguyen also pitched well in relief in his season debut on the mound.

PST 13 - Healy Oil 6

PST took the lead of a tight game by scoring two runs in the top of the fifth, and then broke the game open when Tim Schutt and Mark Urlage each hit grand slams in the sixth. PST's 21 hit attack had contributions from all nine players, including three-hit games from Urlage, Jerry Cressman, Dave Chirokas, and John Bodi. Larry Zupkosky also contributed three RBIs. Healy’s Brian Egan had a multi-hit game, and John Clemens roped an RBI double in the 7th.

Floral Arts 15 - Shortcuts 0

Larry Mardany held Shortcuts to only two hits, as Floral Arts blanked Shortcuts, 15-0. Mardany was also 2 for 3 with an RBI. Simon Tripp (3 for 3, two home runs, and eight RBI), Jim Peloquin (4 for 4, two RBI), and James Gibson (3 for 3, two runs scored) were the offensive stars for the winners.

Mustangs 24 - Mario's Restaurant 5 (5 Innings)

The Mustangs hit eight home runs and played excellent defense to make a winner of pitcher Paul Liguour and improve their perfect record to 17-0. Mark Cusano led the Mustang offense with four hits, including two home runs and three runs scored. Jay Lincoln, Don Cusano (5 RBI), Brian Foley, Bill Knute also hit home runs. Don Cusano, Jack McGrath (3 runs scored) and Chris Jordan also chipped in with three hits each. Thanh Nguyen and John Geary each hit a home run for Mario’s.

Floral Arts 15, Willis Tent 6

Floral Arts scored 15 runs for its second game in a row, defeating Willis Tent, 15-6. Frank Lancelotta (3 for 3, home run, RBI), Jim Peloquin (3 for 3, two home runs, six RBI), and Simon Tripp (2 for3, two home runs, three RBI) led the way for Floral Arts. Jeff Briggs and John Hunter each hit solo shots for Willis Tent. The second place Floral Arts improved its record to 16-2.
