What a great game! In our pre-game talk we set two goals...have a strong work rate and keep our shape on the field. The boys accomplished both. Typically when they come off the field at the end of the first half they start getting down on themselves...not yesterday. They felt very good about the way they played...you could feel the energy. The second half was fantastic! We connected passes and played most of the half in the opposing side. We consistently had two players in front of the goal, defense was active and keeping the ball in play and we never had more than two white jerseys on the ball at once. We created many opportunities, including great play off corners, and it was tremendous to watch! Soccer is a crazy game...the better team doesn't always win. Yesterday we were by far the better team. At the end of the game the referee went out of his way to talk to me and said he was very impressed with our boys. They played the game really well and he said good things are in store for them. This effort after putting in a solid effort for most of the game against Montclair is a solid start on putting their training into action.
The boys came back after a tremendous parent tunnel smiling (THANKS!!) and proud of themselves. They were congratulating each other and it sunk in that they had just played soccer...and they loved it!
