Solid defensive play throughout the night by Andrew Wright and Evan Audley
Game Summary
The Padres finally got off the schneid for their first win of the season. It was a complete team effort with hits up and down the lineup, solid defensive plays throughout the field, and an outstanding effort for Nick Russo on the mound.
The game went only 5 innings with the Padres run ruling the Cubs. Russo went the distance for the Padres, throwing 42 of his 68 pitches for strikes. He was backed by solid defensive days by both Drew Dankers and Evan Keddy.
On offense, the first 4 hitters in the Padres lineup went a collective 10 for 14. Rocco Cerasuolo and Michael Liteplo led the hit attack with 3 hits a piece, and Cerasuolo always wreaked havoc on the bases with 4 SB. Nick Henri and Gregory French also pitched in with 2 hits each.
Andrew Wright and Jack Melanson had the 2 hits for the Cubs.
