Positive Coaching Alliance Back to School Tips
The Village School partners with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to better serve our student-athletes, coaches, and parents. PCA provides us with ongoing workshops that help create the culture within our athletic department to better our athletes both on and off the court. They teach us to honor the game, develop leaders, and help us reach closer to personal mastery. They also teach us how to learn positive life lessons through sports.
Here are a few “Back to School Tips” for our athletes, parents, and coaches:
- Coaches Cultivating A Caring Climate is a podcast with Mary Fry, Director of the University of Kansas Sport and Exercise Psychology Lab, who explains how and why athletes thrive under coaches who care.
- Parents’ Roles In Achieving Balance Between Sports And Academics contains advice from former Stanford University gymnast Shelly Goldberg, who explains exactly how her parents held her accountable with an eye toward lifelong success.
- Time Management For Student-Athletes provides great advice for keeping the “student” in student-athlete. Specific tips include studying on the bus to away games.
