The Indians beat the Mariners 16-7 at Westbury Field on Thursday May 6, 2004. The win clinched at least a #2 seed in the End of Season Tournament as the Indians improved their record to 9-2. They go into the final game of the regular season in a showdown with the A's for the #1 seed. The Indians have ridden strong pitching recently with a complete game by Tyler Walker and strong pitching by Mathew Anderson, Luke Aschermann and Travis Reed. INDIANS WING ORIOLES 5-2

Posted by Mark Aschermann at Apr 5, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Indians took down the Orioles despite an excellent complete game by Orioles pitcher Josh Hill. Hill had the answer for all of the Indians except Matthew Anderson who knocked 3 doubles to left field, stole third base three times and scored 3 runs. That was enough to help the Indians to a 3-1 record. Anderson also pitched 5 strong innings and allowed only 2 runs. Luke Aschermann finished the final two inning and got an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th on great hustle by Ron Schreiber who scored from first when the Orioles centerfielder dropped a fly ball.

INDIANS TRIM A'S 11-5

Posted by Mark Aschermann at Apr 4, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
INDIANS TRIM A'S 11-5 on Saturday April 3. After a rocky start in the field the Indians came alive and pulled away from the A's. The Indians got steady pitching from Tyler Walker, Travis Reed and Luke Aschermann. Catcher Franco Basarabescu gunned down two runners on the bases and tagged out a runner at the plate. At the bat, the Indians received a balanced attack from Matthew Anderson (who even nailed a car window on a screaming foul ball down the left field line), Franco Basarabescu and Tyler Walker. Jonathan Berger added a pair of runs and some extraordinary hustle on the bases. The Indians take the field on Monday April 5 for a makeup game against the Orioles.

Indians Scalp the Mariners 3/24/04

Posted by Mark Aschermann at Mar 25, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
As the skies threatened rain, the Indians and the Mariners paired off for the first game of the season. The entire game was pitched by Matthew Anderson, who with a strong infield team, did an excellent job of keeping the Mariners at a batting minimum. The first score for the Indians for the season was earned by Jonathon Berger. Highlights of the game included a slam by Travis Reed with two RBIs in the fourth inning; as well, Matthew Anderson took advantage of chaos on the field converting a “walk” into 3 stolen bases and a run in the fifth inning. A great job done by all; the Indians are off to a great start. Game announced by Josh Farkas’ dad who enjoyed the job and kept the parents listening! Special thanks to Roman Reed, the team sponsor for the Indians. Sally Reed serves as the team mom and Mark Aschermann is the head coach.
