The Commandos were the Senior Day opponent for the Cougars on Tuesday afternoon and it took 11 innings for the game to be decided, with the Commandos coming out on top 7-2 thanks to 5 runs in the top of the 11th.

Each team scored a run in the first inning.  The Commandos scored when Austin Mays singled and moved to third on a double off the bat of Brett Coker.  Hayden Layne hit a sac fly to give HHS a 1-0 lead.

Goodpasture would tie the game in the bottom of the first as a two-out single scored a run to make the game 1-1.

Chase Nelson started the game for HHS and was relieved after one inning by Andrew Dorris. The senior pitched four scoreless innings to keep Goodpasture at bay.

The Commandos took the lead in the top of the fifth.  The Commandos loaded the bases with no outs but only scored one run as a mishandled ground ball allowed a run to score and make the score 2-1.

Goodpasture would tie the game in the bottom of the 6th and had the bases loaded but a double play ended the threat to keep the game at 2-2.

Hayden Layne came in to pitch to relieve Dorris after the fifth.  Layne would go four innings allowing only the one run.

Keaton Wilson pitched a scoreless 10th inning for the Commandos and in the top of the 11th HHS finally broke the game open.  Nate Vaughn led off with a double and Gaylen Rutledge came on to courtsey run with the score tied 2-2.  Hayden Mullins laid down a bunt single to move Rutledge to third.  A single off the bat of Reid Nelson scored Rutledge to give HHS the lead at 3-2.  Austin Mays walked to load the bases for Harrison Williams.  Williams delivered the game's big blow, a grand slam to centerfield to give HHS the 7-2 lead.

Kobe Carter came on to pitch the bottom of the 11th and got a groundout and a double play to end the game.

With the win HHS moves to 20-8 on the year overall.  The Commandos will next play Murfreesboro Central Magnet on Wednesday afternoon in the final regular season home game of the year for the Commandos at 4:00.
