The casts of Peter Pan and The Addams Family were invited to attend the Applause Awards last Saturday evening at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. It is with great pride that we announce that our very own Alex Sheffield earned the first runner up for this year’s Jimmy Awards performer. In addition, Alex also won a $15,000.00 scholarship to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Alex competed against 13 other female performers all across Central Florida. Alex spent the last week and a half participating in a rigorous audition process that culminated with her performing one last time as Peter Pan on stage during the Applause Awards.

Abby Cheslock and Jackson Rifenberg received their outstanding young performer awards. Laura Campos and Sophia Bresciani represented WPS by performing in the opening number beside Alex Sheffield.

We are proud of our theatre arts students and the achievements earned this year.

WPS Music Department will produce their first opera in September, The Medium, written by Gian Carlo Menotti. More information to come!

We say goodbye to two passionate fine arts educators, Tracey and Tim Hainsworth. We appreciate what they have brought to WPS and will truly be missed. We wish them nothing but the very best as they relocate to and open a new Nord Anglia school in Shenzhen.

Our Fine Arts programs would not be where they are today without the enormous amount of work that our Fine Arts Boosters Officers have poured into our arts programs. This year was a pivotal year for our Fine Arts boosters program. Through a collaborative spirit, our booster volunteers created many opportunities for our students to grow in a variety of workshops, clinics, and extraordinary experiences. They may never know the profound effect that they may have made on a person’s life. We thank you for the gift of time. Please know that we appreciate and value your commitment to volunteering and for this we thank you and you will be greatly missed. We want to say thank you to Stephanie Cheslock (outgoing President), Mike Calvo (outgoing Vice President), Dr. Tim Cheslock (outgoing Treasurer), and Corrie Tsiokos Graham (outgoing Secretary and past President).
