The National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) is hosting a society fundraiser Dancing with Athletics. This is our take on Dancing with the Stars: WPS high school athletes are the stars, and high school society members are the dancers. Last year, we raised $2333. All proceeds go to the local non-profit foundation Kids Beating Cancer, which provides medical treatment and support to kids and their families. We need everyone’s support if we want to be able to beat our amount from last year. Please donate to our donor drive to an individual couple with the following link. https://kidsbeatingcancer.networkforgood.com/projects/84145-windermere-preparatory-dancing-with-athletics

Dia de los Muertos

On November 1 the Visual Arts department enjoyed a terrific collaborative Dia de los Muertos celebration with the WPS Spanish department. For the past several years the Spanish teachers have provided opportunities in their own classrooms for students to create “ofrendas” or offerings to honor famed Mexicans who have passed away. This year, the Visual Arts teachers asked to join the fun and created “calacas,” usually humorous skeletons, as well as other traditional decorations dating from the Aztec Empire of a thousand years ago to the present. Flik, our amazing food service team, made refreshments including delicious skeleton cookies and Mexican spiced hot chocolate. We had such a great experience that plans are underway for an even bigger celebration next year!
