Next Week in Girls LAX - Week of 2 MAY

Posted by Jay Hertzler at Apr 29, 2016 6:04AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Happy Friday Lady Titan LAX Family,

What a week. Between Parade of Choirs and Academic Awards, we managed to get a game in vs Sion. Although the sting of a loss is never a good thing to experience, I was very proud of our girls on both the JV and Varsity teams as they played their hearts out, gave 100% and never quit…and even though we lost both games, we lost each by 1 goal…next week we have 2 games for the Varsity team, and 1 game for the JV team.

Here’s what’s going on next week:
- Monday 2 MAY: Away game: Varsity-only game vs Pembroke Hill at Pembroke. I would like all players to attend this as this may be an opportunity for JV girls to get some Varsity minutes. The game is scheduled for 5pm, so I would like to be at the field by 4:15pm. I will be leaving the LSW parking lot by 3:45pm at the latest.
Here’s the address of Pembroke Hill: (Drive time from LSW will be anywhere between 35-40 mins depending on your route and traffic) The parking lot is on the NE side of the school campus…so turn on W 51st St from State Line Rd, and you’ll see the parking lot on your right.

5121 State Line Road
Kansas City, MO 64112

- Tuesday 3 MAY: Home Games. 5:30pm JV Game vs St. Thomas Aquinas. 6:45pm Varsity Game vs Olathe. Please be at the field dressed and ready by 4:45pm.

- Wednesday 4 MAY: Practice
- Thursday 5 MAY: Practice (Happy Cinco de Mayo!)

That’s it for next week. Have a great weekend. Our plan is to have a 5-1 record after we are done next week, then we look at the playoffs! Great job everyone!

This Week in Girls LAX - Week of 25 APRIL

Posted by Jay Hertzler at Apr 25, 2016 6:38AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Happy Monday Lady Titan LAX Family,

First, let me say “Wow!”, what a weekend for the Varsity girls who participated in the games vs those 3 St. Louis teams last weekend. It was amazing to see how well we played against programs that are over 20 years old. The head coach of Westminster Christian Academy was impressed with not only how well we played, but how well we conducted ourselves as players and as a team and stated she would be inviting us back to STL next season. It makes me so proud to be the coach of this team, and I cannot say it enough how proud and honored I am to be a part of this club. I know the girls are tired and banged up, but they all played their hearts out and never quit, and that’s all a coach could ever want. I want to thank every player and parent for your commitment to the team and club.

For those who did not hear how we did, here are the results:
Friday game vs Westminster Christian Academy: (LSW 6 – WCA 9)
Saturday morning game vs Lafayette: (LSW 5 – Lafayette 15)
Saturday afternoon game vs St. Joseph’s Academy: (LSW 6 – SJA 7)

As you can see, we were very competitive for 2 of 3 of these games, and I am happy to say we had the best showing of all 3 of the KC teams that participated.

Now, we get back to business for league play. Here’s what we have coming up:

– Monday 25 APR: Practice as usual.
– Tuesday 26 APR: Parade of Choirs for a lot of players. We may have a condensed practice with those who are not participating in the Parade of Choirs event.

– Wednesday 27 APR: Big games vs Notre Dame de Sion @ Sion. The field location is at 106th & Wornall in KCMO. Gametime is 4:30pm for JV, and 6:00pm for Varsity. Please note the game times are earlier than usual, as Sion’s field does not have lights, so they want to get the games in before the sun goes down. Players need to be on the field and warming up by 3:45pm. I will leave the LSW parking lot at 3:15pm, and I can take up to 3 players who may need a ride. Any parent who can drive players to the game, please meet me at the parking lot at 3:00pm so we can coordinate rides.
Note to parents: There is a $5 gate charge for all parents, and a $3 for kids for high school games at Sion, so please bring cash. (They have to pay for their new field somehow, I guess).

– Thursday 28 APR – Practice as usual.
– Friday 29 APR: Night off!

That’s it for now. Right now, our JV is in 4th place with a 1-1 record, and our Varsity is in 2nd place with a 3-0 record. Let’s keep up the good work. 3 weeks left in the regular season, then we make our playoff run!

Please reach out to me should you have any questions.
~Coach Jay.

OK,

After talking with the manager at Llywelyn’s, it was determined that they are way too small of a venue to take us all in, so he suggested a larger location that served a variety of food. So we now have a new dinner location that is about 5 mins from our hotel. Based on our afternoon game ending at 5:30-ish, I gave them a time of 7pm for us to arrive. Here’s the info:

The restaurant is called The Brass Rail.
4601 State Hwy K, O’Fallon, MO 63368
(636) 329-1349
Online Menu at http://www.brassrail1.com/Menu/Menus.aspx

They are large enough to seat the entire team and family, and told me they would make every effort to seat us as close to each other as possible.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

St. Louis Tournament Updates

Posted by Jay Hertzler at Apr 20, 2016 11:03AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Lady Titan LAX Family,

I just wanted to let everyone know that the St. Joseph’s Academy location does not seem to have bleachers according to Google Earth photos. I suggest every parent/family member that plans on attending the 8am Saturday game at SJA bring chairs to sit on.

I am still trying to get a response from Llywelyn’s Pub on reserving some space for us. More to follow on a dinner location for Friday.

This Week in Girls LAX - Week of 18 APRIL

Posted by Jay Hertzler at Apr 18, 2016 10:25AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Happy Monday Lady Titan LAX Family,

First, let me say how proud the coaching staff is with the performance that the JV team had this past weekend in Columbia. It was a great showing considering that the majority of the girls on the field had only 1 game under their belt prior to the weekend. I see so much improvement in our JV team, and it’s not going to be long before we are very competitive in every game we play. Let’s keep up the hard work.

We have a VERY busy week planned. Here’s what’s coming up this week.
– Wednesday 20 APR – Varsity-only home game vs Blue Valley @ LSW. Gametime is 5:30pm. Players on the field and warming up by 4:45pm.
- Thursday 21 APR – Games vs LS North at LSN. JV @ 5:30, V @ 6:45. Everyone be on the field by 4:45pm.

– Friday 22 APR:
– We leave for STL for the Varsity Tournament. I have received permission from LSW for all the players and managers participating in the tournament to have an excused absence for Friday. If a player was not invited to play, but wants to make the trip to cheer on the team, then make sure to call into the school to excuse the absence. We don’t have to meet up in the parking lot prior to the drive. I have asked all the girls to make sure they have rides accounted for, so just make sure to get to the hotel and link up with the team in the hotel lobby prior to our first game.
– We have a 4:30pm game at Westminster Christian Academy. I would like to meet in the hotel lobby at around 3pm, and then leave by 3:15pm for WCA. I expect a 20-30 min drive to the field location.
We are also planning a team dinner after the game. I figure we play, get back to the hotel, hopefully the girls shower, then head to Llywelyn’s Pub for dinner. I will coordinate with Llywelyn’s for around 7pm.

- Saturday 22 APR:
– We have an 8:00am game at St. Joseph’s Academy vs Lafayette. I would like to meet in the hotel lobby at around 6:30am (I know, it’s gonna hurt getting up that early), leave by 6:45am for a 30 min drive to SJA. I figured we could return to the hotel after the 8am game.
– We have a 2:00pm game at Westminster Christian Academy vs SJA. We will have to be checked out of the hotel, and meet in the hotel lobby at 12:45pm. The tournament directors are supplying a free lunch to the players/coaches, so if you want to get to WCA sooner to grab a bite, please let me know. I cannot guarantee the free food will extend to parents/family members…you may want to put together a “Plan B” if it’s not free.
– Once done, we go home.

Here are the addresses you’ll need:
Hotel:
Hilton Garden Inn
2310 Technology Dr.
O’Fallon, MO 63368
636-625-2700

Dinner Location:
Llywelyn’s Pub
7434 Village Center Dr.
O’Fallon, MO 63368

Game Locations:
Westminster Christian Academy
800 Maryville Centre Dr
Chesterfield, MO 63017

St. Joseph’s Academy
2307 S Lindbergh Blvd
St. Louis, MO 63131

That’s it for now. The plan is simple…work hard in practice, play hard in our league games, and play hard during the weekend.

Please reach out to me should you have any questions.
