Coaches Clinics January 31

Posted by Ken Cicalo on Nov 16 2005 at 04:00PM PST in Spring 2016

Hilltoppers managers and coaches will participate in two great coaching clinics on Sunday, January 31. All Little League coaches and managers must attend a coaching clinic at least once every three years, and every team must have at least one coach or manager who has attended a clinic in that year.

This season's clinics will be put on by Big Al, the most famous trainer in Little League Baseball, and Baseball ASAP, a locally-based organization that does both coach and player training year-round in the San Diego area.

The Big Al clinic is for all managers and coaches of T-Ball, Rookie, Farm and Minors division teams, and will be held at Serra High School in Tierrasanta. The clinic for coaches of kids in T-Ball, Rookie and Farm begins with registration at 8 a.m. The clinic for Minors and above coaches begins with registration at 12:30 p.m. There will also be a first aid and safety clinic, available for all coaches, from 11:45-12:45 p.m. Big Al has been teaching clinics for Little League coaches for 25 yers, and has presented to almost 300,000 coaches in that time. His fun and informative clinics cover all aspects of running practices, different drills and working with kids of different ages.

The same day, the San Diego Padres will be sponsoring a clinic at Canyonside Park in Rancho Penasquitos. As they have for 10 years, Baseball ASAP will be running this clinic, which has previously been held at Petco Park. Sessions to be offered this year include:
8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.     Coaches with players ages 5-7
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.    Safety & First Aid Training
1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.       Coaches with players ages 8-10
4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.      Pitching special break out training session
6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.      Coaches with players ages 11-13

You can pre-register for the Padres clinic online at: http://padres.research-mlb.com/s3/2016-Coaches-Development-Clinic-Registration

Both of these clinics are FREE, and all Little League coaches will benefit from them.
