Wrap: by Jeff Pierce Daily Times Chronicle

The Bulldogs (14-6-2) broke through with three late runs breaking a 0-0 tie with the Americans and giving starter Nick Kelley a well deserved win.

The All-Time Bulldog leader in wins was masterful allowing a lead off hit from Melrose in the first inning and then shutting them down from there, allowing just two walks and pitching to just two batters over the minimum over seven innings.

The first five innings were uneventful and played in less than an hour as each team had only one runner reach second base.

In the pivotal sixth inning the rally was started when Hank Oringer was hit by a pitch with one out.  A Zac Talis single moved him to third base, setting up Nick Conti's run scoring single, giving Reading a 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs provided Kelly with insurance when Oringer singled home Steve Buitkus (double) and John Halsey.

Kelley rolled through his fifth 1-2-3 inning in the seventh, with a fly ball to right field to end the game being the only fly ball out on the night for Melrose.
