Cardinals flying high after slow start

Thomas continued its strong play with a pair of victories last week.

The Cardinals, who lost three of their first four games, were 11-4 overall and 6-4 in the OCC-Central before playing Dublin Coffman on Jan. 26.

Thomas has league games Friday, Jan. 29, at home against Marysville and Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Central Crossing. It defeated the Monarchs 63-45 on Dec. 18 behind 16 points from junior point guard Jada Sleet and beat the Comets 63-19 on Dec. 22 behind 17 points from Sleet and 12 from sophomore forward Jazzlynn Gaiters.

The Cardinals, who will conclude the regular season with a league game Feb. 5 at home against Hilliard Davidson, defeated Westerville North 54-47 on Jan. 20 before rolling past Westland 82-22 in a league game Jan. 22.

Sleet had 19 points, senior forward Martrina Parks scored 12 and senior guard Carli Taute scored 10 against North. Against Westland, Sleet had 18 points, Gaiters and freshman guard Sarah Charley each scored 12 and Parks scored 10.
