High school roundup: Elmira tops Corning in boys soccer

The Elmira boys soccer team stayed in contention for the Southern Tier Athletic Conference West title with a 4-2 victory over Corning on Tuesday at Elmira High.

Tyler Prunoske scored two goals for the Express (6-4-1). Elmira got a goal each from Eli Halperin and eighth-grader Johnny Beecher.

Zach Quist and Cameron Metarko produced the goals for Corning (8-3)

In net, Owen Mason made four saves for Elmira, and Erik Eckstrom turned away six shots for the Hawks.

Elmira Scoring - Prunoske (2-0), Halperin (1-0), Beecher (1-0), Brimmer (0-1), Johnson (0-1)

Corning Scoring - Metarko (1-0), Quist (1-1)

Shots/Corners - Elmira (10-4), Corning (6-5)
