Elmira 3, Vestal 1: Robby Weiskopf scored his first varsity goal five minutes into the second half to break a scoreless tie and help lift Elmira to a victory over visiting Vestal in a STAC game at Elmira High School.
Weiskopf, a senior, had played defender before Wednesday. Eli Halperin gave Elmira (3-1) a 2-0 lead and Tyler Prunoske scored off a penalty kick to extend the advantage to three. Connor McKnight scored for Vestal (3-1) in the closing minutes.
"Vestal had only given up one goal to this point and it was on a (penalty kick)," Express head coach Derek Hamilton said. "We scored three nice goals against them today. Any time you can put three goals on a quality program like Vestal, you know you played pretty well."
Elmira goalie Owen Mason had 14 saves.
