News and Announcements

After losing the battle with Mother Nature and her showers the Boys in Blue, and the rest of the MVABL, were shutdown on Sunday.  Up next on the schedule for the Royals is a rare Saturday league game.  Due to the increased number of teams and the limited number of available fields the Royals will play on Saturday this week and also next week.  This Saturday they will meet the Miami Valley Dragons in a key divisional matchup at Athletes in Action, which is a good thing as there are late week showers in the forecast.  However with no showers scheduled on Saturday, the Royals should be able to take the field on the turf at AIA.  Jason Holmberg will get the start for the Royals looking to duplicate his opening night performance after a 3 week rest.  Coming off an impressive win in their last outing against the Shockers, the Royals hope to duplicate that performance and begin their first win streak of the season.

Game time is 5:00 PM at AIA this Saturday, please be sure to come out early to get a seat in the new stadium style grandstands installed this season, and support your Boys in Blue.

The Royals and their friends and families spent Wednesday evening with the Dayton Dragons to support their league efforts for the 2010 All-Star Game.  The MVABL working with the Dayton Dragons will be playing their 2010 All-Star Game at 5/3 Field this summer.  The Royals helped fill the Dragon's Lair along with players and families from the Thunder & Redlegs.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the outing even though the Dragons ended up on the losing end.  Haley Franklin was lucky enough to be chosen as a Dayton Dragon's Jr PA in the 2nd inning.  Luckily she got to announce Chris Richburg, something she could pronounce, we were all worried she might end up with "Efrain Contreras"!  All in all it was a great night at the ballpark.  Thanks to everyone who was able to make it out to help the Royals and the MVABL achieve their goal of playing on the same Field of Dreams as the Dayton Dragons.

Royals Water Bottle Count

Posted by Kettering Royals at Apr 27, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

With the new season upon us as the weather starts to warm up, what does the team need to quench their thirst?? If you said Ice Cold Water you are absolutely correct. Within the Royals organization the team has a time honored tradition of the passing of the Water Bottle duties based on whoever receives the final out of a game. Now it's not always that easy and there are many sub bullets and situational exceptions that go along with who actually gets the water bottles, but 95% of the time the guy who hit into the last out of the game gets the priviledge of supplying Ice Cold Water for the next game... So as the season is under way I thought I'd try to keep a running total to see who gets the priviledge the most!

2010 Water Bottle Count

Kevin Reynolds - 2

Mark Franklin - 5*

Brian Duffy - 1

DJ Swearingen - 1

Chris Jergens - 1

Brenden Regan - 1

Drew Dobbins - 1

*Needs to stop entering the batting order at the end of the game!

The Royals took the field Sunday night under the lights and the rain looking to rebound from their dismal offensive and defensive performance in their game against the Thunder.  With only a trim 9 guys on the roster for the game the Royals did what they could without any subs.  The small group was able to score 17 runs on 18 hits and had 0 errors in the field.  The Royals played with a passion and desire that weren't to be overcome as their loss to the Thunder left a bitter taste in their mouth.  Click on the game for the full recap.
