Brazos Valley Renegades capture tournament title - 2006

The Brazos Valley Renegades defeated the Texas Woodpeckers, 2-1, at Olsen Field on Sunday to claim the championship of the BV Renegade Classic baseball tournament.
The Renegades finished the 16-team tournament with a 5-0-1 record, winning the tourney for the second consecutive year.
Reliever Tyler Davis, the third Renegades pitcher, picked up his second win of the tournament.

The Renegades took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Blake Schwarze and Ryan Mullins opened the inning with singles, and Schwarze scored on a fielder's choice by Kyle Zdunkewicz.
After the Woodpeckers tied the game in the sixth, Chris Andreas delivered the winning run in the bottom of the inning when he had a one-out double and scored on a throwing error.
Justin Mcwhorter and Mullins turned in excellent defensive performances for the Renegades
The Renegades earned a spot in the championship game by beating the Houston Heat, 7-6, on Sunday morning. Clayton Groover picked up the win in relief, with Davis earning a save.
Andreas had a two-run single in the first inning. The Renegades took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth, getting singles from Steven Martin, Josh Wisnoski and William Kankel, plus a double by Schwarze

The Brazos Valley Renegades went 5-0-1 over the weekend defeating the TC Woodpeckers 2-1 to claim the tournament title at the BV Renegade Invitational. The Renegades opened the tournament on Thursday with an 8-0 victory over the Houston Power at A&M Consolidated.Lance Robinson tossed a complete game allowing only 1 hit while striking out 9. After a 2-2 tie against the Houston Raiders at Olsen Field the Renegades defeated the League City Hornets White team 10-2 at Olsen Field. William Kankel threw a complete game allowing only 4 hits while striking out 9. Nick Anders, Steven Martin and Kyle Zdunkewicz all had a 2hit performance at the plate. The Renegades then defeated the League City Blue team 8-7 in 8 innings in the 1st round of championship bracket play at Olsen Field. Trailing 5-1 in the bottom of the 3rd the Renegades pushed across 3 runs highlighted by an RBI double by Wiley Crowson.League City took a 7-6 lead into the bottom of the 6th but the Renegades pushed across a run to tie the game. After a scoreless 7th the game went into extra innings. LC was retired in order in the top of the 8th. Nick Anders delivered the game wining hit in the bottom of the 8th inning.Tyler Davis came on in relief of starter Blake Schwarze to throw the final 2 innings and record the win. In the semifinals the Renegades defeated the Houston Heat 7-6. The Renegades claimed a 3-0 lead after 1 inning highlighted by a 2RBI single by Chris Andreas, but a 4 run 4th put the Heat in front. The Renegades answered with 3 more in the 4th highlighted by a Blake Schwarze RBI double and added another run in the 5th for a 7-4 lead. In the top of the 7th the Heat pushed across 2 runs and had the tying run on base as Tyler Davis came on in relief and slammed the door on the Heat rally retiring the only 2 batters he faced to record the save.Clayton Groover pitched 3.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits to record the win. In the championship game Chris Andreas broke a 1-1 tie in the 6th after he doubled and then scored on a throwing error.Tyler Davis picked up the win throwing the final 2 innings and allowing no runs on 1 hit while striking out 2.

Renegades place 8th at AAU Nationals - 2006
The BV Renegades fell to Southwest Florida Baseball 8-4 in the quarterfinal round of the 18/19U AAU nationals at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. The loss eliminated the Renegades which finished the tournament 4-3 and an 8th place finish, earning a spot in the championship bracket final 8 for the 3rd consecutive season. The Renegades opened the tournament with 2 wins on day 1 defeating the Tampa Dogpound 11-1 and the Homestead Stars 8-5. Against the Dogpound, the Renegades put the game away with 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. William Kankel pitched a complete game scattering 8 hits and striking out 8. Wes Schill, Wiley Crowson, Kyle Zdunkewicz and Ryan Mullins each had a multiple hit game and Steven Martin added a homerun.Stephen Tromblee tossed 5 innings of shutout ball against the Stars as Crowson, Blake Schwarze and Ryan Mullins all had 2 hits apeice. The Palm Beach Clippers defeated the Renegades 3-2 to conclude pool play. In championship pool play the Renegades defeated the Florida Hawks at Cracker Jack Stadium 4-1. Blake Schwarze tossed a complete game victory while striking out 6 and only walking 1. The Renegades then defeated Tuscaloosa 2-1 in 8 innings as Ryan Mullins and Tyler Faubion combined to strikeout 7 while allowing only 3 hits. The Renegades concluded championship pool play with a 9-7 loss to the Florida Prospects and advanced to the final 8 championship bracket as the #4 overall seed. Wiley Crowson was selected to the all-tournament team.

Renegades advance at AAU Nationals - 2006

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Brazos Valley Renegades won their pool and opened the championship round with two victories, including a 2-1 extra-inning victory over Tuscaloosa Baseball on Tuesday, at the AAU 19U National Championship Tournament.
The Renegades lost to the Palm Beach Clippers, 3-2, on Sunday in pool play but won the pool with a 2-1 record.
Against the Clippers, Matt Anderson pitched four innings, scattering five hits and giving up one run.
Leading the Renegade offense with three hits was Steven Martin. Chris Andreas had a double. Kyle Zdunkewicz had two hits and two RBIs, driving in the tying run with a two-out
single in the top of the seventh.
The Clippers, however, pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the inning to hand the Renegades their first loss.
On Monday, the Renegades opened championship pool play with a 4-1 victory over the
Florida Hawks.
Brenham's Blake Schwarze pitched a complete game to earn the victory. Schwarze struck out seven and gave up five hits.
Schwarze scored on a Wes Schill single in the third inning. In the fourth, Andreas singled
and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Wylie Crowson. Andreas advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Martin single.
The Hawks scored an unearned run in the sixth to cut the lead to 2-1, but the Renegades answered with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, Schwarze hit another single to plate Andreas and Crowson.
In round two on Tuesday morning, the Renegades beat Tuscaloosa Baseball, 2-1 in eight innings.
Trailing 1-0, the Renegades pushed across a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game.
Justin Mcwhorter led off the inning with a single. Zdunkewicz followed with a bunt and reached on a throwing error that moved Mcwhorter to third. Mcwhorter scored on a Nick Anders sacrifice fly.
With two outs and the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Anders hit an infield single and drove in Zdunkewicz for the winning run.
Ryan Mullins pitched the first four innings, giving up one unearned run and one hit while
striking out five. Tyler Faubion picked up the win in relief, giving up two hits and striking out three.
Schwarze and Crowson each turned in several outstanding defensive plays for the Renegades.
The Renegades will face the All American Prospects of Florida on Wednesday

BVR Round Robin - 2006
The Brazos Valley Renegades went 3-0 over the weekend in a rain shortened Round Robin Tournament hosted by the Renegades. In the opening game the Renegades defeated the TriCounty Woodpeckers 11-5.The Renegades trailed 4-3 before putting up 4 runs in the top of the 4th and put the game away with 3 more in the top of 6. Wes Schill collected 3 hits and scored 3 times. Chris Andreas, Blake Schwarze, Justin Beasley and Kyle Zdunkewicz all had 2 hits apeice. Blake Schwarze picked up the win pitching 4 innings and allowing only 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 7. Later that night the Renegades defeated the Houston Power 15-2. Justin Beasley and Nick Anders each had a multiple hit game.Justin Mcwhorter launched a mammoth solo homerun in the 4th inning.Clayton Groover picked up the win pitching 3 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 3 strikeouts. Matt Andrson pitched the final 2 innings allowing no runs on no hits and striking out 3. On Sunday the Renegades again defeated the Houston Power by a score of 3-0. 2006 Austin Slam Invitational
The Brazos Valley Renegades finished the weekend with a 3-2 record at the Austin Slam Invitational. The Renegades opened the tournament with a 5-3 victory over the Austin Wings at Georgetown HS.The Renagades went to work quickly scoring 5 runs in the top of the 1st inning highlighted by Zach Riebe's 3 run homerun.William Kankel pitched 4 solid innings to pick up the win. Ryan Mullins came on in relief and killed a Wings rally in the 6th and pitched the 7th to record the save. The Renegades then defeated the Columbia Angels 5-4 in a thrilling game.Trailing 2-0 in the top of the 5th inning Zach Riebe again provided the big hit with a 2 run homerun. Blake Schwarze then followed with an RBI single to give the Renegades a 3-2 lead.The Angels regained the lead at 4-3 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 6th and were threating for more when Blake Schwarze came on in relief with 1 out and runners on base. Schwarze got 2 easy outs to send the game into the 7th. In the top of the 7th inning the Renegades had runners at 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. Justin Mcwhorter scored from 3rd on a passed ball. The ball got away from the pitcher who was covering the plate on the play allowing Josh Wisnoski to score from 2nd on another close play at the plate. Schwarze then retired the Angels in order in the bottom of the 7th for the 5-4 win.The FT Worth Cats then defeated the Renegades 7-3 in both teams final pool game. The Renegades won their pool with a 2-1 record and advances to the single elimination Championship Bracket. In the opening bracket game the Austin Slam defeated the Renegades 10-5 at Temple JC. The Slam took a 7-0 lead before the Renegades mounted a comeback plating 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning highlighted by Wiley Crowsons RBI double and adding 2 more runs in the 5th inning on a 2 out 2 RBI double by Philp Middleton to cut the lead to 7-5. Austin Slam would add 3 more runs in their final at bat to put the game out of reach. On Sunday The Renegades defeated the Columbia Angels 4-3 in a consolation game. The Renegades pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the 7th as Kyle Zdunkweicz opened the inning with a base hit and later scored on an RBI single by Nick Anders. Matt Anderson got the start and pitched 4 solid innings in the no decision. Blake Schwarze got the win in relief pitching the final 3 innings

2006 B.E.S.T. Gameday Series
The Brazos Valley Renegades went 3-1 over the weekend at the B.E.S.T Baseball Gameday Series at LSU and Southern University in Baton Rouge,LA. The Renegades opened the tournament with a 6-3 loss to East Cobb at LSU's Alex Box Stadium. The Renegades gave up 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the 2nd and another unearned run in the 4th with untimely errors. The Renegades bounced back with a 9-3 victory over the Louisiana All Stars at Southern University. The Renegades got out to a quick start scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Wes Schill and Nick Anders each had a multiple hit game. The Renegades then defeated the League City Hornets 10-4 back at Alex Box Stadium. Tyler Davis pitched 3 solid innings to pick up the win. Ryan Mullins pitched the final 2 innings. At the plate Justin Beasley had 3 hits and Nick Anders,Blake Schwarze and Kyle Zdunkewicz had 2 hits apeice. Mullins added a homerun. The Renegades closed out the tournament with a 15-0 win over the Baytown Knights. The Renegades took an 8-0 lead after 2 innings and never looked back. Stephen Tromblee tossed a complete game shutout allowing only 2 hits and striking out 8 in 5 innings of work. Wes Schill,Ryan Mullins and TJ Olivarri all collected 3 hits apeice. Olivarri also added a homerun and 4 RBI. Justin Mcwhorter added 2 hits and 4 RBI

Monday, June 5
2006 Houston Wildcat Classic
The Brazos Valley Renegades won 2 of 3 games over the weekend at the Houston Wildcat Classic. The Renegades opened the tourney with a 9-6 victory over the Houston Outlaws. The Renegades took command of the game by scoring 7 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. Blake Schwarze pitched 3 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 3 to record the win. Ryan Mullins came on in relief of Matt Anderson in the 7th to pick up the save. Wiley Crowson belted a solo homerun and Philip Middleton had a pair of doubles and 3 RBI. The Renegades then fell to Kyle Chapman 3-1. Stephen Tromblee pitched well in a complete game effort giving up 3 runs on only 4 hits. The Renegades then rebounded with a 10-0 win over the San Antonio Hackers. Tyler Davis tossed a 1 hit shutout while striking out 8 in 5 innings of work. Kyle Zdunkewicz had a 3-3 day while Ryan Mullins,Blake Schwarze and Wiley Crowson all had a 2 hit performance.

2006 AAU Gulf Regional Qualifier

The Renegades opened the 2006 season by sweeping 4 games at the AAU Gulf Region Qualifier held over the weekend at Prairie View A&M. The Renegades claimed the Gulf Regional tournament title for the third consecutive season.
The Renegades opened the tournament with a 5-0 victory over the Houston Miracles. Stephen Tromblee picked up the win going 4 innings and allowing no runs on only 2 hits. Ryan Mullins picked up the save working the final 2 innings and giving up no hits. Wiley Crowson led the team at the plate going 2-2 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. The Renegades then defeated Kingwood 6-1. Blake Batten recorded the win going 3 innings
giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits while striking out 3. Lance Robinson picked up the save. Blake Schwarze and Nick Anders paced the Renegades with 2 hits apiece. On Sunday the Renegades defeated the Texas Storm 5-1 in the semifinals. Blake Schwarze worked 5 and 1/3 innings to pick up the win. Tyler Davis recorded the save. Nick Anders led the team at the plate with 3 hits and an RBI. In the championship game, the Renegades defeated the Houston Colt 45's 7-6. The Colt 45's tied the game at 6 with a 4 run 6th and were threating for more with the 2 runners in scoring position and only 1 out. JT Huckabay on in relief gets a strikeout and a groundout to end the inning and keep the game tied. Josh Wisnoski kept the Renegades alive with a 2 out single in the bottom of the 7th. Zach Riebe then delivered the game winning hit by drilling the first pitch he saw over the leftfielder scoring Wisnoski from first

Renegades conclude 2008 summer season

The Brazos Valley Renegades Maroon and White teams finished off their 2008 summer seasons this past weekend at the BV Renegade Invitational.
The Maroon team finished with an overall record of 32-8-1. The 32 wins sets the BVR record for most wins in a summer season topping the previous high of 28 wins in 2005. The Renegades claimed 2nd place at the AAU Nationals in Orlando,FL. ,finishing the tournament with a 9-3 record. The Renegades reached the national championship game with 5 straight victories in elimination games before falling 7-4 to Chet lemons Juice in the title game.The Maroon team won tournament championships at the UMHB Tourney(3-0-1), Northwest Louisiana Invitational(5-1), Texas Invitational(5-0) and the BV Renegade Classic(4-0). The Renegades finished as semifinalist at the BV Renegade Invitational(3-2) and Quarterfinalist at the Austin Slam Invitational (3-2).
The BV Renegade White team finished the season with a 21-11-1 overall record. The Renegades placed 7th at the AAU Nationals in Orlando. The White Team claimed tournament titles at the UMHB Tourney (4-0) and the Houston Tourney (3-0-1), finished as runner up at the Texas State Tourney(2-2) and the BV Renegade Classic(3-1) and claimed 4th place at theTexas Invitational(3-2).
Congratulations to all Renegade players on an outstanding summer season.

AAU Nationals- 2008

The Brazos Valley Renegades Maroon team fell 7-4 to the Florida Chet Lemons Juice in the 18/19U National Championship game at Champions Stadium at the Disney Wide World of sports complex in Orlando, Fl. The Renegades finished the tournament with a 9-3 overall record. The Renegades advanced to championship bracket play after finishing pool play 3-1. In the opening round the Renegades defeated BVR White 5-0 but then fell to Tuscaloosa, Alabama 9-7 in the 2nd round. Facing elimination the Renegades then won 5 straight games beginning with an emotional come from behind win over the New Jersey Bergen County Bombers. Trailing 5-1with 2 outs in the 6th inning the Renegades scored a pair of runs to cut the lead to 5-3 and then added 4 more in the top of the 7th to take a 7-5 lead. Stephen Tromblee retired the Bombers in order in the bottom of the 7th for the win. The Renegades then eliminated the Tallahassee, Florida Baseball Club 4-3 in 10 innings. Justin Beasley pitched a complete game gem as the Renegades then eliminated the West Florida Young Guns 5-1. Stephen Tromblee and Cory Ochs tossed back to back complete game victories as the Renegades defeated the Georgia Wiregrass Cardinals 5-3 and Tuscaloosa 14-2 to earn a spot in the title game. Stephen Tromblee, Justin Beasley, Kyler Crenshaw and Krey Bratsen were named to the all tournament team.
The BV Renegades White team earned a spot in the championship bracket as a #3 seed. Following an opening round loss, the Renegades rebounded with a 9-1 victory over the Louisiana Warriors but were eliminated 4-3 by the Wiregrass Cardinals to finish 7th in the tournament. The Renegades collected two thrilling come from behind victories on day 1 of the tournament to propel them to championship bracket play. Trailing 8-4 entering the bottom of the 7th against the Puerto Rico Whitesox ,the Renegades scored 4 runs to send the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Jeremy Zdunkewicz drove in Brian Tiemann with the game winner for a 9-8 victory. Later that same day the Renegades defeated the Baton Rouge Whitesox 4-3. Trailing 2-0 entering the top of the 7th the Renegades scored 4 runs to take a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the inning Baton Rouge scored a run to cut the lead to 1 but Chase Wellbrock finished off a complete game by retiring the final batter with a runner in scoring position. Chase Wellbrock was selected to the all tournament team.
