The Brazos Valley Renegades Maroon team defeated the Tallahassee Baseball Club 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Jet Blue Park in Ft Myers, FL to claim the AAU National Championship, it was the Renegades 2nd AAU National title in the last 3 years. The Renegades finished the tournament with a perfect 7-0 record.
Austin Baron, Jacob Huckabay, Ford Moore, Alec Paradowski and Matt Roberts were selected to the all tournament team. Congratulations to all players on an outstanding week.

BV Renegades taken in 2011 MLB Draft

 

 

The following current and former BV Renegade players were taken in the 2011 MLB Draft
Gandy Stubblefield (Lufkin HS) - 14th Round - Houston Astros
Stephen Tromblee (Columbus HS/ Lamar University) - 35th Round - Los Angeles Angels
Steven Martin (Brenham HS/Texas A&M University) - 37th Round - Houston Astros
Chris Andreas (Brenham HS/Sam Houston State University) - 39th Round - Seattle Mariners

Congratulations to these young men and their families.



 AAU National All Tournament Team Selections
Andrew Brown, Brig Gerlich,Matt Roberts and Jonathan Schmitz were all selected to the 2011 AAU All Tournament team.
Brown, a 2010 AAU All Tournament recipient as well, finished the tournament 7-19 hitting .368 with 7 RBI, 2 doubles, a triple and 3 runs scored as well as turning in several nice defensive plays at first base.
Gerlich led the Renegades at the plate with a .615 batting average collecting 8 hits in 13 at bats, scored 6 runs and drove in 3 more. He also had the game winning hit, a 2 out walkoff RBI single in the bottom of the 7th to propel the Renegades to an 11-10 win over the Virginia Storm in the quarterfinals.
Roberts went 2-0 on the mound, tossing 11 innings without allowing a single run, giving up only 7 hits while striking out 9.
Schmitz, who turned in a solid performance behind the plate, hit .385 for the week leading the Renegades with 9 RBI, scored 5 runs and reached base another 5 times via base on balls. Schmitz also blasted a walkoff 3 run homerun against Louisiana Marucci Elite to enforce the run rule.

Renegades fall in AAU National Finals


The BV Renegades bid to capture back to back AAU National Championships came to an end Sunday afternoon at University of Louisiana Lafayette's M.L. Tigue Moore Field as Tallahassee Baseball Club (36-6-1) defeated the Renegades 8-5 in the finals. It was a rematch of the 2010 AAU national Championship game that the Renegades won 11-4.
The Renegades finished pool play at 2-0 and entered the double elimination bracket play as the overall number one seed. The Renegades defeated the Virginia Storm in the opening round 6-4 before falling 7-5 to Tuscaloosa Baseball. Facing elimination the Renegades won three consecutive games, defeating Louisiana Marucci Elite 8-0, Virginia Storm 11-10 and then defeating Tuscaloosa 11-1 in the semifinals to earn a berth in the finals.
The Renegades, who have advanced to the AAU National finals four times in the past seven seasons, finished the 2011 summer season with a 37-6 overall record.
