Sat. 20th March 2004 - Murray Cup 2nd Round
Banchory St.Ternan Youth 4 v 0 Ellon Meadows
Scorers: Forbes 2, Tully, Mackie
Team: Christie, Gilbert, Meldrum, Brodie, Cowie, Black, Ure, Forbes, Tully, Smith, Fraser. Subs: Harrapersad, Mackie, Johnston, Lloyd.
Banchory proved too strong for B-League side Ellon at a rain soaked Milton Park. Ellon worked hard in the first half but found the strong running of Brodie and Forbes too much to handle. Good work by Meldrum found Brodie who played in to Forbes to fire home and put Youth one up at half time.
The home side dominated the second half and Tully, Smith and Fraser all came close, before Tully scored the second with a well hit angled drive. Forbes added his second and sub Mackie came on to add the fourth after a goalmouth scramble.
This was a good performance by the lads hitting a bit of form at the right time as they have a hard League run in over the next few weeks.
Sat. 13th March 2004 - Sunnybank Shield 2nd Round
Banchory St.Ternan Youth 3 v 2 Lewis United
Scorers: Forbes 2, Tully
Team: Christie, Gilbert, Meldrum, Considine, Cowie, Black, Brodie, Forbes, Tully, Johnston, Fraser. Subs: Mackie, Smith
A good result for Youth who now find themselves in the Semi-Final of this competition.
Youth started well and soon took the lead when Forbes latched onto a long clearance from Christie rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home. Shortly afterwards striker Tully rifled home a thunderous drive to put banchory 2-0 up. It was 3-0 early in the second half when Forbes scored the goal of the game with a delightful chip.
Tully went close again before Lewis struck twice towards the end of the game, but Youth defended well to hold on for a fine victory.
Next Saturday 20th March Youth are once again at Milton Park when they play Ellon Meadows in the 2nd Round of the Murray Cup.
