Duluth East Invitational
Friday, January 20, 2006

Bib Pick-up 10:00 a.m.
Coaches Meeting 10:30 a.m.
Race Start time 11:00 a.m.
Format:
This will be an individual start freestyle race with one skier starting every 30 seconds. The top four skiers in each race will score points for their team. Teams may enter as many skiers as they want in each race.
Order of Start:
Boys Junior High 3 km
Girls Junior High 3 km
Break
Girls Varsity 5 km
Girls Junior Varsity 5 km
Break
Boys Varsity 5 km
Boys Junior Varsity 5 km
Awards:
Individual – Varsity - Top 5 medals, 6-15 ribbons, Junior Varsity 1-15 ribbons, Junior High 1-15 ribbons,
Team- Boys varsity champion, Girls varsity champion, Overall varsity champion (Boys and girls combined)

Hello Parents,
The Duluth East Invite is this Friday at Snowflake. We have lots of tasks that need to be done. No experience is necessary. Some are inside and some outside. Here are some of them.

Parking director (Friday AM before race starts)
Stadium take down (after race ends)

The 2006 Marshall Sprints will be held at the Marshall School in Duluth, Minnesota on Saturday, January 14, 2006. This is the third annual running of this exciting event. New for this year is an updated and unique format to guarantee all skiers at least two races for a total of up to 4 kilometers of racing. Also new this year is the sprint course location. All of the sprint racing will start and finish on the school football field. The new sprint course averages 15 feet wide, with some sections as wide as 24 feet. The course is safe, fast and exciting. It will be a true test of your skier's talent. Separate Jr. High 3 kilometer skate race.
Date: Saturday, January 14, 2006
Time: 9:00 bib pick up and course inspection
11:00 Sprint Qualifier
12:30 pm 3 kilometer race and Jr. High 3k
2:00 pm Single elimination sprint heats
Format:
All skiers (except Jr. High) will ski a 1 kilometer qualifying sprint race on the sprint course. The top sixteen girls and top 16 boys will qualify for the single elimination sprint heats. All other skiers qualify for the 3 kilometer short course event. These skiers will start in groups of four based on sprint qualifying times. Fastest overall times will determine final 3 kilometer short course race placement.
Awards:
Awards to the top 10 boys and girls 3 kilometer race and Jr. High 3k race. Awards to the top 8 skiers in the single elimination sprint heats. Top 3 boys and top 3 girls in Sprints and 3 kilometer race will receive a Billboard Bag Ski Bag.
