Congratulations to the East skiers at the Mesabi East Invite. We placed 1st in the Boy's Varsity, 2nd in the Boy's Junior Varsity, 4th in the Girl's Junior Varsity and 12th in the Girl's Varsity. There were great performances by all skiers. Check out the web site www.eteamz.com/denordic for full results. Just click on the Mesabi East Invite link on the home page. Sign up for the Marshall Sprints by Thursday, Jan 15th. The Marshall Sprints will be Jan. 20 at The Marshall School. Start time is 3:00. Plan to get there by 2:30. Sign up for the Cook County Invite race by Monday, Jan 19. The race will be on the Pincushion Ski Trail in Grand Marais on Friday, Jan 23. The bus will leave for the Grand Rapids race at Mt. Itasca at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan 16. This is a freestyle race. Bring a lunch and money to stop for dinner on the way home. Race Info: A quick update on our race next Friday, January 16th. We will not be having a pursuit – it will be freestyle only for all races. The start time will be 10:00. Mt. Itasca is the host of the North American Super Tour races on Saturday and Sunday so we have to have the course open for course inspection by @ 2:00 p.m. The course will still be open for skiing; I just need to have the race over by then. The official invite will be sent to the AD’s on Monday but this is the schedule: 9:30 Coaches Meeting 10:00 Girl’s varsity 10:45 Boy’s varsity 11:45 Girl’s JV 12:15 Boy’s JV 1:00 Girl’s JH 1:30 Boy’s JH The varsity races will be five kilometers and the JV will be four, junior high two and a half. We will have a few different course options available. The course is in great shape with plenty of snow for good skis. A “new” building has been moved on site so we will have additional inside area for skiers, including a wax area. Team scores will be based on top four. Ribbons or medals to top 15, trophies to top varsity teams. Check out the new web site at www. eteamz.com/denordic. It has all the current race information, results, pictures, team roster, workouts, calendar, directions to race sites including maps and much much more. Parents sign up to be a member to get into the restricted pages. It's free, it's easy and it's fun. That's all for now. See you on the ski trails, -- Bonnie & Dave
