Lindsey Chambers and Kelsey Chambers have always been a bit of a challenge to coaches and teachers to tell apart. But few coaches would say that they have not been glad to coach them. In the fall of 2008, Coach Kathy Arendsen will join take on the challenge of distinguishing Lindsey from Kelsey as the twins join the University of Oregon Ducks softball team. Perhaps this picture will help. Lindsey is the one of the right, errr left, no right.
Am Finest (28)
Despite the absence of 5 Sorcerer players, Sorcerer scored an incredible 44 runs this weekend in the Americas Finest Showcase in San Diego. Catcher Maya Burns started the home run derby on Friday night with a 3-run homer, her first of the season. Center fielder Maia Monchek blasted a ball to the very distant right field fence in the fifth game to score another 3-run homer, her first home run of the season. Pitcher Val Arioto and third baseman Whitney Shaw each contributed a home run this weekend. However, it was shortstop Jordan Wallace who turned in the offensive performance of the weekend and of the season with a record *4* home runs over the course of the 6 games, including two 3-run homers. Sorcerer was aided this weekend by sister team Sorcerer Gold-Pete first-baseman Kellie Herring who turned in outstanding defensive performances at first base and power hitting at the plate. Sorcerer remains undefeated this season in showcase play, with a record of 20-0-1*, having scored a whopping 113 runs while giving up 16. Check the site later this week for ACTION photos! * N.B.: Win/loss records in showcase competition are not very meaningful, since the final inning is rarely complete. This record reflects final game scores WITHOUT reversion to the last complete inning.

Sorcerer Scores 17 in Surf City Showcase

Posted by Derrick Burns at Oct 21, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Facing tough competition, the Sorcerers scored 17 runs and gave up 6 this past weekend in the Surf City Octoberfest Competition in Huntington Beach. Highlighting the weekend was slugger Whitney Shaw who blasted a bomb over the center field fence to score the tieing run late in the third game against the SoCal Pumas. In the final inning, Sorcerer loaded the bases with no outs as Sorcerer 3-hitter, Jordan Wallace, came to bat. BUZZZZZZZZ. "Ball Game" yelled the umpire, leaving the game in a 1-1 tie, provoking a unanimous groan from the Sorcerer bench and stands. So goes it with the drop dead showcase format!
