Jordan Goes Yard, AGAIN
Facing the toughest competition of the season in the Batbuster Pre-Thanksgiving Showcase, Sorcerer chalked up another 25 runs but gave up a season-high 19. But despite an unusually weak defensive performance, Sorcerer offense kept the games exciting. Leading the offense once again was Sorcerer sophomore Jordan Wallace who extended her home run streak with her first Sorcerer GRAND SLAM and a 3-run homer over the 200 foot fence at Harvard Park. Jordan's exciting homers most definitely captured the eyes of the over 3 dozen college coaches in attendance at the game as those seated leapt to their feet to watch the ball fly across the yard. Sorcerer finishes the fall showcase season with a record of 22 wins, 3 losses, and one tie and having scored 138 runs while giving up 35.

Despite the absence of 5 Sorcerer players, Sorcerer scored an incredible 44 runs this weekend in the Americas Finest Showcase in San Diego. Catcher Maya Burns started the home run derby on Friday night with a 3-run homer, her first of the season. Center fielder Maia Monchek blasted a ball to the very distant right field fence in the fifth game to score another 3-run homer, her first home run of the season. Pitcher Val Arioto and third baseman Whitney Shaw each contributed a home run this weekend. However, it was shortstop Jordan Wallace who turned in the offensive performance of the weekend and of the season with a record *4* home runs over the course of the 6 games, including two 3-run homers. Sorcerer was aided this weekend by sister team Sorcerer Gold-Pete first-baseman Kellie Herring who turned in outstanding defensive performances at first base and power hitting at the plate. Sorcerer remains undefeated this season in showcase play, with a record of 20-0-1*, having scored a whopping 113 runs while giving up 16. This record reflects final game scores WITHOUT reversion to the last complete inning.

Phil in his Silver Beetles Debut
Congratulations to Raymond Collins of Sorcerer 16U, Bob Stauder, and Ron Chambers for their correct answers to the trivial question. Coach Phil did indeed play Division 1 basketball, serve as associate director of the Oakland Musuem, and raise triplets. He was never a professional bodybuilder. Coach Phil also was a professional singer, but gave up singing for softball. As for the Silver Beetles, ....

Rumor has it that pitcher Michelle Gascoigne loves country music. If you like country music (and even if you don't), check out this new song, which we dedicate to Michelle for outstanding performances in San Diego and Huntington Beach. If you like it, send email to derrickrburns[at]yahoo[dot]com and I will pass on the word to Michelle. :)
