When Sorcerer comes out to play, often our friends, family, and previous opponents come out to watch.
Samantha Camuso From CalHiSports:
Samantha Camuso (Foothill, Palo Cedro)

For pure hitting, Camuso has to be one of the best in the nation. An infielder who will play next year at national power UCLA, Camuso led Foothill to the Northern Section top divisional championship. She came up officially 97 times to bat and got 69 hits for a ridiculous .711 batting average. Camuso also had 57 runs scored, 10 homers and knocked in 33 runs. She only struck out twice and showed some speed with 18 stolen bases on the season as well.
Coach John Rebstock Coach John Rebstock was named CalHiSports Coach of the Year in the Medium School division. Here is the text of the article:
Medium Schools:John Rebstock (Heritage, Brentwood)

A veteran with nearly 25 years of softball coaching experience, Rebstock took on the challenge of building up a program from scratch at new school Heritage and this season was a major success. With just freshmen and sophomores on the roster, Heritage finished 21-5 and won the North Coast Section Class 2A East Bay title after a 1-0 victory in the title game against Piedmont.

Another sign that Rebstock and his team is on the right track is that it was able to beat Freedom of Oakley once, which last year was the nation's No. 1 team.

Rebstock's previous coaching jobs have been at Antioch High, Deer Valley High (also of Antioch) and Diablo Valley College. His teams at Antioch won three North Coast Section titles and under his tutelage Deer Valley also became a perennial power.

Following two days of terrific hitting, Sorcerer bats went cold on Sunday as the Corona Angels and the Firecrackers sent Sorcerer home from the Regional Qualifier in Lancaster, CA.

Sorcerer accumulated only 3 hits in Game 4 against the Corona Angels, singles from Kasey Tydingco, Maya Burns, and Emily Allard, while the Corona Angels scored early and often, beating Sorcerer 8-0. Ouch!

In game 5 against the Firecrackers, Sorcerer scored the first two runs. However, the scrappy Firecrackers refused to give up. A Sorcerer error gave the Firecrackers their first run, while a beautiful two-run homer to right field brought the Firecrackers into the lead, which they never gave up. Neither team scored another run, and after 7 innings Sorcerer lost 2-3, ending the weekend quest for a national tournament berth at the regional qualifier.

Congratulations to the SD Renegades, Victory, Corona Angels, Strike Zone, Jets Gold, and So Cal Athletics for qualifying to Nationals this weekend!
