Following a thrilling 7 game streak in which Sorcerer allowed only 7 runs, Sorcerer bats went cold on Sunday morning during the third round of the Champions Cup against the San Diego Rowdies. Sorcerer was the only team who went undefeated in pool play not to make it to the semi-finals of the Champions Cup in Irvine.
Next up for Sorcerer will be a round-robin with other Norcal teams who have qualified for ASA 18 Gold Nationals. Game times will be posted when they become available.

*** CalHiSports.com has chosen its annual All-State softball teams with 30 first teamers having been written up with 30 more picked to all-state overall second team. The 1st team has three catchers, eight pitchers, 10 infielders, four outfielders and five multi-purpose players.
"Our all-state teams are based on the following criteria:
1. Other honors already received;
2. Representation of championship teams;
3. Geographic representation;
4. Significant statistics;
5. Opinions gathered from others (prep writers, coaches, yes, some parents).
This is not a list of the 30 best players because certain positions have to be filled. A minimum of three outfielders must be listed as well as at least two catchers on every all-state softball team that is chosen."

In the fourth game of elimination play of the Colorado Fireworks tournament, Sorcerer faced the SoCal Jets Gold, who took an early 3 run lead in the first inning.
Sorcerer scored a run in the third, but in the fourth inning, the Jets extended that lead with a 3 run homer, making the score a nightmarish 1-6.
But Sorcerer gave the Jets a nightmare of their own. In the fifth inning, Sorcerer bats finally came alive, when Katie Fleury hit a 3 run homer over the center field fence. Jordan Wallace followed with a 2 run homer, tieing the score, 6-6.
As time ran out, the sixth inning began and the Jets scored again, taking the lead 6-7. Sorcerer was the home team and had one more chance. Sorcerer took advantage and scored a run, tieing the score again, 7-7.
Under international tie-breaker rules, Jets placed a runner on 2nd base to start the inning. Jets got a base hit to put runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs. However, pitcher Mackenzey Bard was not to denied as she retired the next three batters.
In the bottom of the inning, with a chance to win it all, Whitney Shaw went to the plate. With 5 home runs this season, Whitney has demonstrated that she has the power, and on her second pitch, Whitney hit a walk-off 2 run homer to win the game!
