The bats were smokin' in the debut of the Sorcerer Summer 2008 Team in the America's Finest City Showcase Tournament in San Diego last weekend. Sorcerer scored 50 runs and gave up only 6 in 5 games of play.

On Saturday, Sorcerer dropped the first game against TNL with a score or 2-3, but later got back on track with convincing 12-1 and 13-1 victories over the San Jose Lady Sharks (Sawyer) and the Fillys Gold.

On Sunday, Sorcerer bats remained hot as pitching also improved, defeating the Washington Bellevue Blast 18-1 and the California Thunder Gold 5-0.

Details of the showcase are available at Spy Softball.

In a festive celebration at Deer Valley High School in Antioch, CA attended by her family and Coach Phil Mumma, Sorcerer Shenise Cox signed a National Letter of Intent to accept a scholarship to play softball for the Lobos of the University of New Mexico coached by Ty Singleton.

Cox has been an all-league performer at Deer Valley, where she has played outfield, third base and catcher. She primarily patrolled left field for this year's summer team.

Shenise selected the Lobos over a number of other schools extending offers. New Mexico is the right fit for her, she said, having been impressed by the University, Singleton and his staff, their commitment to building a winning program, the softball facility, and Albuquerque, where the school is located.

Congratulations Shenise!!!
