New Gold Coaches Appointed and 16U Team Added
Joe Mello has been appointed Sorcerer Gold Head Coach and Anthony Trujillo Assistant Coach, beginning with the fall 2013 season. Mello has coached travel ball for the the past seven years with All-American Sports Academy and the San Jose Sting organizations, while Trujillo has served as a Sorcerer coach in various age groups for the past six years. We believe that in Joe, Anthony and John we have as fine a Gold Team staff as there is anywhere," Sorcerer founder and head coach emeritus Phil Mumma said. "All are respected by peers as excellent teachers, motivators and mentors."

Sorcerer will add a 16 team for fall 2013, to be coached by club veteran Bill Schroll, this summer's 14&U leader. "Colleges are recruiting players at younger ages (two of our 14s have recently verballed in the Pac-12) and our adding a 16U team is in recognition of that trend of earlier collegiate recruitment," Mumma said. Schroll has coached Sorcerer teams to several final four finishes nationally in his tenure with the club. Schroll will be replaced as 14U coach by the married duo of Jenny and Mike Williams. The Williams have a number of years of coaching experience with the Pleasanton Phantom and Lady Hustle organizations. Jenny has also coached at Amador Valley High School. Their daughter Krista will attend Northwestern University on a softball scholarship. "It is good to have the Williams family continue their close association with Sorcerer," Mumma said.

Sorcerer Softball is one of the nation's top 18 Gold programs and has won three national championships. The club is also well known for placing its players into many of the nation's top collegiate programs. Last year four former Sorcerers made collegiate All-American teams and two were members of the U.S. National Team.
